HBO plays Bush Tape.

Maybe procedures have changed, and maybe I'm remembering it incorrectly, but...Billy Joe Hobert anyone???

Back then, the Pac-10 conducted their own investigation and assessed their own penalties, and the NCAA just followed up.

And Washington was banned from bowl participation for two years mainly because Hobert took a loan from someone who was in no way affiliated with the U-Dub and was not an agent.

The Reggie Bush obsession-fetish-fixation here on Hornfans is both comical and disturbing. It's comisturbing.

Cheating does not matter. UT exists in a vacuum. You are an obsessed idoit if you even think about other schools, other players, or how NCAA does/does not enforce rules. You are enlightened and superior if you show how much you don't care about Reggie by showing how much you care about not caring.

I find it amusing and ironic how many fellow Horns fans want USC to get the Death Penalty because Bush's parents were getting assisted by an agent and the school apparently did not find out about it(which, ahem, is not illegal), yet they apparently have no problem with the fact that we had a bunch of felons on our team that committed assalt, robbery, burglary and weapons violations.

Carroll is supposed to do what, have private investigators follow a kids' PARENTS or something or USC forfeits 2 seasons of games, etc? Exactly what is USC supposed to do to "monitor" this, require all of their players' families to copy the school on the lease payments, tax returns, car payments, etc? And Texas should suffer no penalties whatsoever due to the fact that its PLAYERS are out committing felonies?

My personal opinion is, unless the program -- not agents, boosters, etc, but the program itself -- is DIRECTLY INVOLVED in the transgressions, its totally unfair to punish the team because of one idiot like Bush or the OU QB or whatever. Punish the kid, kick him out of school, make him repay his scholarship, take the Heisman, whatever, but don't punish the barrell because of one bad apple. Hell, fine the coaching staff and the school if you want, but don't punish a bunch of innocent kids that just want to play ball.

Personally, I think Mack and Stoops and Carroll all do the very best they can to police this stuff. None of them are remotely dirty in my opinion, and I have a lot of respect for all of them (especially Mack as he is exactly the kind of guy I would want to play for).

Being a fan of the Texas Longhorns and being pissed off about this situation are two completely seperate events. It doesn't mean that anyone is "obsessed" or that none of us know that Texas beat USC on the field. It is a much bigger issue. People on other football message boards discuss this same issue. Where is their "fetish" based?

And the first thing that comes to my mind about Hagy is why would he continue to open threads on the subject if he does not like the topic. And moreso, why would he continue to post on those threads?

I'm not seeing all these people calling for USC to get the death penalty. Are you guys delirious or just intentionally making **** up to argue against?

I have stated on this board that I don't think USC should get hammered. Only that they deserve some sort of punishment for failure to monitor if only as a warning shot.

I don't want USC getting the death penalty either. All most of us discussing this are saying is if you're going to slap OU for violations then you better damn well slap USC for violations...And if the NCAA does't then what's the point?

That is all anyone is really saying. Everyone else throwing the "you hate reggie" and "we won get over it" are just adding filler to a thread and looking for someone to argue with.

Oh whoever posted that RB's family getting perks isn't a violation....dude, read the rules and understand them before you say something like that.
