General Presidential Campaign: Trump vs Hillary

Yeah I don't get how someone could look at our current political class and their "accomplishments" WRT negotiating deals for the US and then say well Trump may be able to negotiate real estate deals but that doesn't mean anything when it comes to foreign affairs.

Here's the deal. Clinton typically gets 40-44% in these polls (which includes 3rd party candidates). Of the undecideds, I just don't see Hillary getting any more voters. So, a reasonable final tally would be 46-44-10 for Trump-Hillary-Other.

FYI. Johnson is for open borders.

I recognize that. I personally don't think immigration is the most pressing issue to anyone but the white nationalist crowd. The debt is of much greater urgency and Gary Johnson is Babe Ruth while Trump is Adam Dunn when it comes to that issue.

Deez, what is your standard that a presidential nominee needs to have to be considered to have a good or great negotiation skills?

He needs to have great humility. Why? Because the President doesn't negotiate trade deals. The Office of the US Trade Representative does that, and you need a President who has the humility to let them do their jobs.

And no, not all negotiating is the same.

That's a pretty big compliment for Trump. Adam Dunn was a pretty good ballplayer. A better comparison would be Mario Mendoza.

"To fund construction of a new U.S. border wall, Donald Trump and senior advisers are considering various ideas, including the use of assets seized from drug cartels and others in the illicit drug trade.

As the debate over who will pay for the wall dominates the discussion on cable news, sources involved in the pre-planning of the GOP nominee’s Mexico trip told LifeZette the Trump camp is looking for innovative ways to pay for the construction of the border wall that both countries can support. Sensitivities in Mexico regarding Trump’s visit, and specifically paying for the border wall, are running high.

A senior Trump policy advisor stressed the proposal was just one of several funding options being discussed and said the idea was not raised during Trump’s meeting with Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto....."

So Mexico wouldn't be paying for the wall? This would be laughable if it wasn't the centerpiece of his campaign.

I remember during Ford v. Carter, Ford went off the rails with a dumb remark during their debates about Eastern Europeans living under the Soviet boot. The entire country went, "Wait, ..... what did he say?" at the same moment. It hurt him, and tended to confirm the stereotype perpetrated by comedians that he was just a dumb ex-jock (turns out he was actually a fairly bright guy). I cant say this alone was what made the difference, but it definitely did not help his chances.

I remember hearing those remarks and thinking it was a surprisingly stupid thing for a reasonably bright man to say. Ten years later I realized the Ford had been right. No doubt is was a bad idea for a politician to suggest Eastern Europe was not dominated by the Soviet Union. But if Ford's goal was to give his honest assessment of the situation and educate the American public to the notion that Soviet domination of eastern Europe was loosening and impermanent, he made a good point that almost everyone lacked the strategic insight to understand.

Here's a crazy idea. Instead of pretending that "Mexico" (whoever that is) is going to pay for the wall, why not just tell the truth? As controversial as the wall is, paying for it with assets seized from drug cartels wouldn't be.

You have to admit it is amazing how these folks roll

Here, one of the Rothschild heiresses sets up a puff piece Parade Magazine wants to do on Hills by assuring her she will get "a veto over content"

The US media never fails to disgust

There are a great many ex-Soviet era Eastern Europeans still alive today who would be shocked to learn this bit of revisionist history.

A woman I used to date's East German mom escaped over the wall. She was the only one who made it. They killed the rest of her family.

Sounds like you been reading way to much Howard Zinn.

Here is cartoonist (Dilbert) Scott Adams on the Rubin Report on Trump and Hillary if you have a few minutes.

I start it at the part he sets up an analogy -- "Would it be fair to say?"

I wasn't reading revisionist history in 1986. I was observing current events. Ford vs Carter was in 1976.
The Polish Trade Union Solidarity was founded in 1980. By 1983 Trade Unionist Lech Walesa had won a Nobel Peace Prize. He was elected President of Poland in 1990 after Glasnost was well underway. The Belin Wall was abandoned in 1989. Germany was reunited in 1990. As a high school senior in 1976 I wasn't perceptive enough to even imagine that stuff. However, I honestly believe that as president, Gerald Ford was privy to intelligence that observed the rusty underpinnings of the Iron Curtain.

Hillary herself tweeted this out
You guys find this persuasive?
To me, it looks like she is running an ad on Trump's behalf

"Donald Trump went to Mexico and won"
By León Krauze September 1 at 6:00 AM
León Krauze is an award-winning Mexican journalist, author and news anchor. He is currently the lead anchor at KMEX, Univision's station in Los Angeles.

"Make no mistake about it: Donald Trump’s trip to Mexico was a resounding success.

After weeks of scrutiny over his credentials for higher office, his moral standing — even his sanity — Trump needed to restore some sense of legitimacy and strength to his flailing campaign. What better way to do so than to stand, statesman-like, next to the president of Mexico? Trump played the role to perfection. Subdued and even solemn, he owned the proceedings. Trump chose when and how he wanted to visit Mexico, a country he has insulted and maligned for more than a year. He established the meeting’s agenda, laying out a five-point plan for the bilateral relationship in a potential Trump presidency. Trump even chose who got to ask questions during the brief news conference that followed the usual statements, deftly placing himself on equal footing with Peña Nieto. A master of optics, Trump used the setting to his advantage, calling Peña Nieto “a friend” and conveniently shaking his hand for front-page-ready photos. He avoided anything resembling an apology and, albeit in more careful terms than before, stood by the construction of a border barrier...."

Well Trump has vowed to "Bring back Big Coal." Between that and visiting with my mountain dwelling cousins, I'm hardly surprised by Trump's dominance in West Virginia.

US trade representative? You don't really believe that do you?

Humility? Yes that's been happening and humility has made us so successful so far. :rolleyes1:

Not all negotiations aren't the same? Is that the strawman's argument? Thanks for clarifying that. Now that we know that then I'd much rather have Trump since negotiations can be so complicated. I imagine the 5 terrorist for 1 traitor was very complicated. They were so complicated that I bet it was after the fact that Obama realized we got 1 useless traitor and they got their 5 valuable terrorist to join the fight again. I wonder how long it took him to realize that 5 is 4 more than 1. I can't even imagine how difficult the Iran deal was. Then today we find out that there were secret exemptions with the Iran deal for them. Like the original deal wasn't bad enough.

Deez, I'm not trying to be a smart ***. Your arguments so far are very weak. The logic you give on this subject is just a continuation of your lack of logic of being a never trumper, which Hillary benefits the most from.

By the way, the USTR is just another way of saying an advisory committee to the President. I think Obama should have fired his advisors a long time ago. They made him look stupid.

This is amazing - so all of this time, Hills has not been traveling with the press like Trump does? She has been on the campaign trail for well over a year now.
Can you believe no one in the media has mentioned this until now? What a cover-up. The ongoing double-standard is quite striking.
Is this about trying to hide her health issues?

This is the same media just got through throwing a hissy fit because Trump flew to Mexico without them
They are so corrupt
