For Real ....Herman “IS” Done!!!

"The whales are still coaching" they say...
(this whale has been out of coaching for some years)

If it's not Meyer grabbing some Buckeye assistants (or Clemson or ND assistants) who are still coaching, then NFL coordinators--especially those with some tie to the State of Texas--are a field for the speculative mind to graze in.

I didnt see or hear CDC do anything except say Herman was the coach. That is the fact. opinions may seem absurd to some people and not to others. That is why they are opinions. If you dont agree, that is ok.
That is what he said - Herman was the coach as of the date of the statement. Herman will be the coach until he isn't. Just the way the real world works.

IMO, if a change does occur, it's gonna be Sarkisian for the following reasons:
1. Previous head coaching experience with success at high profile, elite/semi-elite programs (proven commodity?).
2. Proven productivity and success as the architect of 'Bama's ridiculously good offense (additional benefit of current recruiting relationships).
3. Feel good, second chance PR story.
4. Explains the lack of any reports, news, progress, etc. until after 'Bama's season concludes.

Texas AD: Tom Herman will remain with Longhorns

"With the close of the regular season, I want to reiterate that Tom Herman is our coach," Del Conte added.

Del Conte later confirmed in a phone call with the American-Statesman that his statement means Herman will be UT's coach in 2021. A second UT source confirmed this as well. Herman could not be reached for comment.

Maybe CDC has one public and one private answer.

Whether you choose to accept the AAS are a credible source is your choice.

CDC certainly has spoken publically many times since the AAS follow up and has not publically challenged the AAS reporting.

Show of hands here who believes the AAS. He tells them that in a phone call but doesn't proclaim it from the mountain top?

I ain't buyin' it.

Now that the BMD's have clearly expressed themselves, CdC has no hope of finding the pledged but not funded money for the DKR construction if Herman stays. He also has no hope of obtaining the needed level of season ticket funds if Herman stays.

Today is Thursday after a Tuesday night game, where is the official University of Texas release from CdC confirming clearly and unambiguously that Herman will be the coach in 2021? Hint - there isn't one. What was said before and after the quote (or what the AAS reporter wanted to hear) in the AAS is anyone's guess.

Now what may be going on is CdC told Herman he would not "fire" him if he can find another job within an appropriate time period. If this is what is happening it is an unneeded, but generous gesture by CdC to provide Herman an out so his resume will not show "dismissed" as Texas HC.

Tom Herman will coach Longhorn football in 2021.

I suggested that to Deloss several years ago and got, "He's got surplus baggage"

My reply was, "He's got surplus wins"
Din't he kick a player off the team for asthma early when he was with the How 'Bout Them Cowboys? He pulled a Judge Smails on that guy. "I'll give you asthma!"

Ha! Since we're getting all literary in here, I think some Shakespeare works describe the situation:
No doubt, the program is currently in The Tempest.
Tom Herman's take on the bowl game win is All's Well That Ends Well.
The play calling this year was sometimes A Comedy of Errors.
Winter's Tale will tell us where we're going from here.
If CDC ends up sitting on it and keeping Tom along for another year, then I guess it was all just Much Ado About Nothing.

He's lit

I seriously doubt any coach in today's system cares if they have"dismissed" on their resume. They get guaranteed millions, and then get hired a month or year later at another school. This was sarcasm. Correct ?

Nope. Dismissed = Fired. No one, even a college coach, wants that on their resume.

Agree and this choice seems somewhat obvious and under the radar at the same time. Alabama's Offense is humming more than usual and Horn Defense is pretty damn good. Need a QB coach to compete in Big12/College D1. Don't see a current head coach that will work and I don't buy the excuses surrounding the Urban is coming but wants to wait. Plus it benefits Texas if Sark gets a ring this year.

Bear in mind that we’re talking about a man who is financially set for life at a very comfortable level. Absent some very expensive habits or addictions, this isn’t a man who would struggle financially if he was let go.

As much as It hurts me to say it , Tom Herman will be our coach next year. I doubt Tom Herman’s abilities at this point, but if he is going to be here another year, I hope he surprises me. Starting with NSD. I hope he can pull together a good recruiting class and I will root for us to go 1-0. Hook em!

I'm with you Shilala, I can't even write that Herman will be here next year that thought makes me sick. I will watch the team and hope that we win in spite of Herman. I still think he has lost the recruiting edge and we know that recruiting is the lifeblood of a program. He's got to go. Come on CDC do your thing.
