For Real ....Herman “IS” Done!!!

I’m not sure if the Major is a troll or not. I hope a troll because those thoughts are why Texas is in its current position. Appeasement is not a strategy that will win.

I’m not a troll. Texas is where it’s at right now because it has handled this situation oppositionally rather than with openness and a visible commitment to its entire student base.

Late editorial note: when I said “is where it is” above I meant with respect to race issues. Texas football is where it is not because of Tom’s stance on race issues but rather because Tom makes bad decisions on the field of play, puts the governor on the offense, won’t tell his QB to throw the ball away if there’s no room to run, and hasn’t figured out how to coach DBs.

Sometimes married couples make unnecessary adjustments just because they love each other and want to build rather than tear down the relationship. Opponents usually fight over every damn inconsequential thing. I’m not married to every little word in TEOT. We should all be married to our fellow human brothers and sisters.
I'm all for loving my fellow man...and I do....but dont get it twisted...
What the world sells as love (and peace) is anything but

Texas is, where it is right now because it has a coach who is a mere irritant against OU (1-4), and loses no less than 3 conference games every year he's been here.

Herman after 4 years has clearly shown he's no match for OU, or even the TCU's or OSU early / ISU now quality teams.

Next year, the team will have to replace the best players on both offense and defense, as well as the best player (as such) on the OL.

Hard to see Herman rising up to that challenge, when with a returning 4 year starter QB, Texas lost 3 games, and will finish 3rd in the B12.

I call ********.
We have former black players supporting The Eyes.
You paint with too broad a brush.
Shaka seems to have negotiated this well.
A black coach can support The Eyes and not necessarily be conservative.
Not that there's anything wrong with that. ;)
These former black players sure didn't get the current team to get on the field for the Eyes. A black coach that's more leftist has no capability of supporting the Eyes. That would imply he would have common sense and would know the difference between a person who blocked blacks from attending UT with a song invented in 1903 that does nothing but tell the world to watch out for The University of Texas. Shaka couldn't handle it when Trump was elected. Said so himself. "We're not sure we feel like playing when someone like Donald Trump has been elected POTUS" (or something close to that). Apparently the rest of the country's bball teams that won 25 plus that season were fine. I'm curious. How has that nimrod negotiated the song?

I think each black person has the capability to make up their own mind. Just like each white, brown, red and yellow person. Where are you going with this?

My pleasure. ;)
But I'll have you know I am on the side of keeping the Eyes as it is.
While I may side with players, coaches, etc. on other issues, I believe going after the Eyes was taking it too far.

Yep. The activists over-reached on the Eyes. And they know it. Hence the shift in messaging to: "I don't know if it's racist...but we gotta change it anyway!"

I actually think in this climate, one cannot make up one's own mind when one is black. Not publicly anyway. This EOT song is an indicator of current times. Ok, I'll bite. How capable would any black coach in the country be able to make up his mind that he'd make his mostly black players stay on the field for the Eyes every game and each time it was expected? Please tell me what your perceived percentage would be? if you go past 5% I'd like to sell you some ocean front property in Arizona.

Texas has handled NOTHING "oppositionally" when it comes to SJW issues. And that's the source of the current problems. Until the fans and alums raised hell about the Eyes, the UT admin rolled over for EVERY socialist demand.

It took a fan/alum revolt to get the admins off of their fat asses. The Eyes was a bridge too far. And that's the source of the current agitation. The socialists suffered a humiliating loss. They weren't able to completely destroy/re-write the entire history of the University.

Countdown to:
1. Fire Tom Herman after the KS win on Saturday
2. Announce UM as HC, Venables as DC and GHarrell as OC
3. CCG next
4. CFP next

How many days to each step?

So your argument is that social pressures from within and outside the black community have compromised black coaches' ability to speak their mind. I would agree with that.

In fact, I'd say that these same pressures have been forced upon people of all colors. I can't recall a time in recent history where censorship has been so heavily enforced. In all sectors of out society. It's everywhere.

Having said that, I'll say this. Give me a coach who stands for the Eyes, without equivocation, and I'll support them. Regardless of what color his/her skin is.

Getting the student section full for the biggest home game of the season.

Check with George Washington, whose inaugural speech Robert E Lee was paraphrasing when he made that "horrific racist statement". People need to get a ******* grip or get the hell out. We can't change the past, just try to improve going forward.

That said, "The Eyes of Texas" is not now, never has been, never will be racist except in the the peanut brain of some "find fault if it's white" pseudo professor.

Dion feel free to delete or move to WestMall.

This is easy:

The pride of Texas is upon you
All the the livelong day
The rise of Texas is upon you
You cannot get away

Do not think you can escape it
At night or early in the morn
The pride of Texas is upon you
As equals we are born
Ha!
Since this thread has gone full moron, I can one-up you on some appropriate new lyrics:

The lies of Texas are upon us
Erase the past away
The lies of Texas are upon us
No dissent, no single nay

Do not think you can escape the
Taxes from the day you're born
The lies of Texas are upon us
Til the 40 is forlorn

Meaningless without:

1. Shot of West side stands at the same time for a comparison.
2. Shot of the East side stands at kickoff, instead of some unknown time.
3. Indication of what ticket percentage was allowed for that game.

I like it. If you ended the song with the burning of both the US and Texas flags, you might actually get UT faculty and administrators to the game for once!
