For Real ....Herman “IS” Done!!!

So, how about Luke Fickell from Cincy? Turned the Akron Zips around. Has won 11 games twice at Cincy and is currently undefeated. Might be a hard get because Cincy just extended his contract, but we seem to be into long shots these days.

I think It’s only justifiable to buy out Tom at this point if we get:

Urban Meyer
Nick Saban
Dabo Swinney
John Harbaugh
Mike Tomlin
Matt Ruhle
Kyle Shanahan
Troy Aikman
Doug Flutie
Emmitt Smith just on the “Break they **** backs” sound bite

I’ll take Colt McCoy at OC if he makes himself available too.

Ex-Texas head coach Urban Meyer* even mentioned him last Saturday

*it was a short tenure

Snice the names are getting silly anyway^ ..... if Brees is done then why not? (and IMO he has been in decline)

The Burton morning update - the wheels remain in motion

For those of you wanting resolution sooner rather than later when it comes to the head coaching situation at the University of Texas, I have some straight-forward news for you. “Nothing is happening any time soon,” a high-ranking University of Texas official texted me yesterday. For context, “soon” means subsequent to both the early national signing period and the various conference championship games.

**
But the idea that nothing is happening soon publicly is quite different from what is actually occurring behind closed doors. The wheels remain in motion behind the scenes to vet possible replacements for Tom Herman, who has had mixed success as Longhorns’ head coach.

**
As we reported previously, over the last month, key university personnel, regents and donors had united in their pursuit of Urban Meyer, the three-time national champion. Considered the only “sure thing” available prior to the end of the college football and NFL season, Meyer has to this point rebuffed the Horns’ overtures.

Vetting of potential replacements continues behind the scenes, as does the idea of once again trying to unify the university’s group of power brokers and decision makers into the pursuit of a few select candidates.

The unity behind the pursuit of Meyer was a welcome change to what typically occurs in a Texas football coaching search, where various factions have their favorites. But Texas officials want that same sort of unanimity on whoever they turn their focus to next. Stakeholders are being consulted and listened to. Virtual unanimity may ultimately be impossible. In fact, I think it is.

However, the idea of a comprehensive and careful vetting of multiple highly qualified candidates is a welcome change to what I have seen happen during other searches. For that, a few people deserve some credit, and that includes multiple members of the Texas board of regents, led by chair Kevin Eltife, school president Jay Hartzell and athletic director Chris Del Conte. I feel like Texas is in good hands with the group and its approach to the task. Of course, we’ve yet to see the results of their efforts and the proof will always be in the pudding.

Fully expect Matt Campbell to be the Michigan coach next year.

I am resigned to one more year of Herman next year. I hope I am wrong but that's just what everything seems to point to.

I’ll head over to TexAgs to see if Johnny12 is bragging about trolling me.

He claims to be a "big VY fan"

Is that how you introduce yourself when you meet new Texas exes?
(something that happens to all of us all the time since we basically have the largest alumni collection in the known universe)
"Hello my fellow Longhorn fans, I am a big VY fan"

The names being tossed about all seem unrealistic
Ruhle just got a new NFL contract, which is where he wants to be
Mullen is already getting paid $6M (I think)
Saban, Dabo, Tomin? (come on man) Ditto Mack Brown
Shanahan is where he wants to be too, already said so
Some people mention Patterson but he has a losing record in conference the last 3 years

The new Roadrunner's coach is just down the bend...he made the football good this year —-immediately.

This thread might never go away

Justin Wells (on radio) says he thinks the Urb is still in play
He also thinks Traylor could/would be in play if the Quest for the Urb finally dies
(but it feels like all of IT has been pushing Traylor lately)

He also mentioned Houston BMDs have begun talking about Tony Elliot

Meaningless without:

1. Shot of West side stands at the same time for a comparison.
2. Shot of the East side stands at kickoff, instead of some unknown time.
3. Indication of what ticket percentage was allowed for that game.

Duck D - It has been a difficult year for travel. But here are a couple of clues to help with the analysis from the picture for those not familiar with the view from UDW 104:
- The time is 9:05 countdown to kickoff per the three scoreboards and jumbotron.
- The game is Iowa State at DKR on Nov 27, 2020 with scheduled 11am start cst
- The pregame event is Seniors Day to honor the Senior Longhorn Football players at last home game of the 2020 season.
- Per ESPN the attendance was 16,555, 17% off the 100K stadium but actually about 70% of the reduced SEZ and CV19 limitation of 23K+/-.
- The student section is the right side of of the East Side Stadium from about the 30 yd line to the South endzone.
- The Cheer and Pom squads are located in the student section on 15 yd line.

The question was how long before the Texas students show enough interest in Longhorn Football to fill the 4500+ seats allocated. The rest of the stadium was approx 16K of 19K or 84% on a cold, wet, rainy day.

ISU at TX was the biggest home game of the 2020 season featuring #13 vs #17 on ABC for a ticket to B12 CCG for the winner.

THIS IS THE UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS! I DON'T WANT A GLORIFIED HS COACH!
Traylor has made great strides at UTSA, but whether you call it D-1, DII, DIII, or pseudo DI, it is a long way from NCAA Top Ten.

I just post what I see and hear

In that light, sounds like Auburn is keeping Gus, for some reason
I had little interest either, just one of the names circulating

Ok. Alright Already. Chill out before that vessel bulging on your temple pops!

No one’s hiring Traylor.

Just because Herman’s having to settle for 2 & 3 star recruits these days doesn’t mean CDC is going to settle for a 2 star coach.

You know better than damn near anybody that the next coach will be well vetted.
