For Real ....Herman “IS” Done!!!

Good speculation and he might be terrific for the position. I don't follow him at all since he left NE. Has he expressed interest in coaching in the NFL again or more importantly at a college level?
It's okay, man, I'll get you a new sarcasm detector.

Wait, maybe you are pulling a double sarcasm move and pretending to actually give credence to the Belichik thing.

Well done.

The Burton morning update

I texted with a high-ranking university official this morning and am told the wait for Urban Meyer continues.

While Meyer contemplates the decision, the Horns have not given the three-time national championship coach a deadline.

Despite mass speculation otherwise, the Horns have not received either a final no or yes from Meyer to this juncture.

If Meyer were to reject Texas’ advances, Texas would not begin a broad coaching search because of the size of Herman’s buyout.

Instead, the money needed for the buyout would only be agreed upon based upon who Herman’s eventual successor would be.

If this is accurate, then the BMDs are all aligned only for one person
If he says no, then its going to get messy
Again

Just hope this isn't the high ranking official.

Another interesting factor is whether UM cancels its game with tOSU -- whether bc of the virus from China or just to be dicks to tOSU
If the game is canceled, tOSU is supposed to be out of the CFP (and aggy in preumsedly (go Cinci!))
At that point, UM might be free to start hiring their assistants

If I were a sofa in Ohio, I would be very afraid right now
The meltdown would be epic and probably observable from space

Guess we'll see what happens. I hope we get UM, since he's a no nonsense type coach. He takes care of, but doesn't coddle his players.

Yahoo is my homepage because I have a Yahoo email account and like their finance section. Let me tell you without equivocation; it is a Liberal front. They have bloggers who spout all the left-wing talking points on a daily basis. If he is reading this stuff and taking it to heart, there is no question he is left-wing.
After having yahoo as my homepage for years, I had to switch several years ago. I too liked the finance section but it got to the point I couldn't my lunch down.

Yep, as stupidly as Texas seems to generally handle the type of thing, the stupidity doesn't not include firing the coach and goring another before the final game. Another stupid Covid casualty: Texas fans have to stomach having Herman at the helm until December 13th.
I don’t think I can make
It that long.

Make of it what you will but Texas has cancelled today's practice.

Road trip, several banged up players, coaches meeting for evaluations, rest the players, back to work Monday. OR, TH meeting with CDC who tells Herman, "big win yesterday, why haven't you coached like this all season? And, one big win does not a season make nor job save."

Actually, I have no clue.

The guy seems, like most people who tout how brilliant they are, to have no common sense. That's the bottom line with this guy.

When he actually admitted to people that he makes game decisions based on analysis and what is shown in a binder to supposedly cover any situation, it showed that he has no awareness of common sense and what he should or should not say.

To me the early signing period, not Covid, has changed everything. While the “right way” to handle the situation would be to terminate TH after the regular season, if we follow protocol, the recruiting opportunity cost could be epic, and not in a good way.

For that reason, I am firmly in the “fire him immediately” and “announce his replacement quickly” camp.

If it’s Meyer, the buz will be off the charts, and in that remaining week (before the 16th) I would be very surprised if a few high level defections didn’t come our way. If we wait, Texas will be pissing away one entire class.

I don't equate giving up 31 points and 450 yards as not playing hard. A defense can play hard and still surrender excessive points and yards. The defense has to play smart also. Like when their receiver got wide open on the The twelve yard line and literally jogged to the end zone. Someone missed an assignment. Defenders have to defend the space assigned to them and make the play. Of course the offense is designed to create space (perhaps by misdirection) and mismatches (speed for example) and if the offense can do this quickly then the result is a good play. So it's not a lack of hustle but good execution by the offense. The defense has to play smart, alert and the coaches have to have them in the right location to make the play. And then there are the individual playmakers like Vaughn who can make something out of nothing. A defender can try hard to stop them and still not succeed. I just wince when someone says "they didn't play hard". Gotta give credit to the other team for offensive execution and individual play making. Sorry, I know I ranted.
I could've used smart instead of hard, but the results were still poor against an offense using a backup QB and 3 backup OL. The Texas defense made a 3* RB from the Austin area that never sniffed a Texas offer look like Barry Sanders.

Is this generic or did he do something new?
I read the letters the boosters sent to CDC. It reminded me of my thoughts on the matter, which can be found on West Mall. If Herman doesn’t spend the next year apologizing to fans, he needs to be shown the door on that alone.
