Let’s see. Who lives at Horseshoe Bay?

Fred Akers - moved to the ranch

Emory Bellard - passed

Spike Dykes. - passed

T Jones - passed

What could it possibly be?

A possible Plan B

TFB -- ......A source close to upper administration at UT shared with me some concerns about other coaching options and their potential view on the Texas job should the Longhorns be forced to expand their search.

The source started off saying they do not believe the University has done a good job handling the situation. Shocking right? In addition, they stated that by Texas putting all of their eggs in the Urban Meyer basket, it was setting Texas up for failure if Meyer said no.

While Texas is still a very attractive college football coaching job, the Longhorns will have to combat potential coaching hires knowing they were second options and/or back-up plans.

There was a vote of confidence in Athletic Director Chris Del Conte mentioned by the source. However, the publicity of the Urban coaching search has not been met with much approval, specifically with Meyer being able to essentially pick his price.

While I believe the chance of Urban pursuing the Texas HC position with faux interest as minute, that topic has been discussed according to the source.

If Texas were to miss on Urban, the source indicated that Florida HC Dan Mullen would be under serious consideration to be the next head coach at Texas. Currently, Mullen is 7–1 right now and has Florida ranked sixth in the country.

With all this said, the source concluded with Texas landing Urban at a 60-40 confidence scale

Apparently Phil Knight has been pushing Meyer to Texas behind the scenes.
Supposedly Knight and Meyer are friends and UM seeks his counsel.

Let me make sure I understand the article posted by whatever his name is. Our practice facilities are bad? But the south end zone at DKR changes that perception? What the hell does the south end zone have to do with the Bubble on IH 35?

More and more, these inside scoop guys are laughable.

Dan Mullen? Another substandard SEC reject?

Thanks, but no thanks.

Plus another portion of that article is written from an uninformed source that never watched Meyer on TV.

Getting really sick of the know nothing wannabe pretenders getting in the way.

Let me see if I can guess at who it and so that doesn’t like the way CDC has handled it. That would be the same guy that meddled in it to make it public.

My read is that nothing will happen until Sunday or Monday, regardless, so all the speculation and hand wringing may just be a distraction in advance of the inevitable. It also serves as click bait.

Seriously doubt Mullen would be interested.

Let me add that the logical sequence would be:

Herman terminated Sunday.
Meyer Intro PC Monday.

But who knows...

I don't have a good feeling about this. Wife, Family and doctors all telling Urb no. Why even risk it? Certainly not hurting for $. He would have to have a burning desire to coach again, and if I were in his shoes I wouldn't.

No other good options. Thanks UT admin for getting us in this pickle.

Regardless of whether or not we get Meyer, TH has to go. The interim coach approach has merit IMNSHO if “our man” is not available right now.

We heard this when he left FL. The guy wants to coach again. The rest of this is all smoke.

Never believed he was done when he left Florida. Now it's more likely true than not. I'd say 30% chance he takes the job.

RP, I believe if Meyer wants the job he'll take it. Seems like his health problems arrive when a university decides there's "other issues" besides football and he gets "chest pains". Bring him in to coach Texas and we'll be Big 12 cg contenders immediately and probably win it first year. I think he wants the Notre Dame job pretty badly but Brian Kelly has them going pretty good....USC would also be a target if they start losing.....

All coaches want that one last chance to do something big. Taking Herman's recruits to a level that Herman couldn't and winning another NC would be his crowning achievements.

Even if he comes, he will be gone either after the NC or 5 years. Thus, the next long term coach list needs to be at hand at all times.

I believe if he comes it will be because his ego won't let him resist a chance to be the man who "fixed" this highly publicized cluster of a program.

We want Urban Meyer but will probably end up with someone like Danny Gonzales Head Football Coach of the University of New Mexico Lobos, they're 0-5....but he'll be cheap!

Good news, I think there are enough Hallmark and Netflix programs to stream through 2021!. Can I set a Horn Fans timer to wake me up when this nightmare is over? (could be a great Christmas gift for loved ones as well).
