Mona,
I really don't understand, but then I don't spend all day chasing bad information on internet. (I am not saying you are one of those.)
WE have a problem; turning it into a political football is an abomination.
That said, Israel had a very low infection rate a couple of weeks ago, with ZERO deaths. An Israeli company reportedly had 5 million doses of the vaccine to ship, yet it was never allowed to come in. The French supposedly did a trial on 80 infected patients, 78 of whom were well within 72 hours.
Having done a lot of business, watching big pharma turn MD Anderson into a giant *****, I can only surmise that big pharma increased "donations" to keep the product out.
Did I misunderstand that South Korea used the drug over a month ago to curtail the spread there?
The great bug disease of the late 50s avoided the politicians, was quarantined at John Sealy, and eliminated before it could spread - total dead 28.
When the mystery disease killed people in Philadelphia, a small group (five IIRC) of giants in the infectious disease specialty, flew to Philadelphia. Phillip Johnson, MD, officing in the Medical Towers Building (corner of Fannin, Dryden, Main) and Baylor College of Medicine spent a couple of weeks in Philadelphia, isolated the virus, stopped it, and got home before someone coined the phrase "Legionaire's Disease". No government bickering.
Two potentially devastating plagues wiped out without political rhetoric or bickering. Now politicians would rather see people die if it means more TV time and advancing their personal agenda. I have apologized to both of my grandchildren (11 & 13) for the **** my generation has let them to try to clean up.
