Coronavirus

We should be storming out of our houses and holding our government accountable. This generation would undoubtedly prefer to be subjects of the King George. We have lost our love of freedom.

It is disturbing and also disappointing how fast many of my friends fell right in the basket and go along with all this and even cheer it on. The opportunities for virtue signaling ("Stay Home - Save Lives" proclamations on FB and the like) are just too strong for many to pass up.

That is not what you asserted and you know it
You were wrong . Have some dignity for yourself and admit it.
Dignity? Whatever. I asserted that he tried to buy a German company that is one of the leaders in developing the testing resources. She denied it like I provide references for people that used to work for me that I'd never hire back. I also said that once the dust settles, we will possibly see that there was some weird benefit for his pushing hydrowhatever the f. that drug is that is for lupus treatments. It's sad to see him push Fouci sideways to answer the medical question for him.

...If this is this case, then maybe we should be devoting our resources to protecting those in the most "at risk" classes of Americans. For example, surround assisted living facilities with the Natl Guard if you have to. No one gets in except those who are absolutely necessary. No family. Actions like this would be much more efficient than what we are doing now, which is to shut everything down. Protect the most vulnerable and let the rest of us carry on, following normal flu season precautions. This would let the rest of the US economy continue to function. It seems to me that we are destroying what was the best US economy in ages when we dont have to. When this is all over, I think this will be one of the key issues we look back at to analyse whether our response was appropriate....

'multiple cycles of viral transmission'

Based on the trend, the virus seems to be growing linear now whereas it was growing exponentially before the lockdown. So at least the “flattening the curve” objective has been achieved in most, but not all, regions.

On the other hand, all the layoffs have created major problems for the millions who live paycheck to paycheck. But then you could argue the spread of the virus would just have accelerated without the lockdown and panic would have forced businesses to shut anyway.

Maybe warm weather will slow the virus down as we exit Spring. A major secondary effect is food processing (U.S. ‘Perilously Close’ to Meat Shortage After Major Plant Closes Over Coronavirus). Not only will this decrease the supply of meat coming from the factory, the hog and cattle ranchers are placed in a predicament. The plants must be disinfected and the workers must be unafraid and compensated well or they won’t show up. All of this means potential shortages and price increases. Soon, those involved with production, processing, and distribution of food may be considered more essential than even health care workers.

So you asserted and repeated something that is not true. That Trump tried to buy a company.
From you;
"we will possibly see that there was some weird benefit for his pushing hydrowhatever the f. "

Weird benefit to saying HCQ looks promising?
Saving people's lives is weird to you? wtf?
If you or a loved one got it bad would you turn down the HCQ treatment because you hate Trump so much you would rather die than try a treatment that hasn't gone through protocols but was being touted by Trump?

It is not medically indicated. The anecdotal accounts are inconclusive. It has serious side effects and people are taking it preventatively. People who have been on it for many years for things like lupus can't get it now. And, Trump keeps pushing the microphone away from actual medical doctors to answer questions about it. Strange things are afoot at the Circle K.

How many thousands of reported cases does it take for it to not be anecdotal? Not medically indicated?Thousands of Docs all over the world are saying it works.
Can you provide a source where someone on lupus has not been able to get the med? So far people are saying they are worried that will happen but afaik it has not happened. We are getting millions and millions from India and companies are making millions more

I ask again if you or someone get it really bad would you refuse the HCQ treatment?

Some clinical studies have not been conclusive. That is true.

However, it is still the best medication we have today to fight the virus. If I get COVID I want to take hydroxyquine, even if it only has a 30% chance of working.

Rumor is that Boris Johnson took it when in the icu and it prevented him being intubated.

Mona,

I really don't understand, but then I don't spend all day chasing bad information on internet. (I am not saying you are one of those.)

WE have a problem; turning it into a political football is an abomination.

That said, Israel had a very low infection rate a couple of weeks ago, with ZERO deaths. An Israeli company reportedly had 5 million doses of the vaccine to ship, yet it was never allowed to come in. The French supposedly did a trial on 80 infected patients, 78 of whom were well within 72 hours.

Having done a lot of business, watching big pharma turn MD Anderson into a giant *****, I can only surmise that big pharma increased "donations" to keep the product out.

Did I misunderstand that South Korea used the drug over a month ago to curtail the spread there?

The great bug disease of the late 50s avoided the politicians, was quarantined at John Sealy, and eliminated before it could spread - total dead 28.

When the mystery disease killed people in Philadelphia, a small group (five IIRC) of giants in the infectious disease specialty, flew to Philadelphia. Phillip Johnson, MD, officing in the Medical Towers Building (corner of Fannin, Dryden, Main) and Baylor College of Medicine spent a couple of weeks in Philadelphia, isolated the virus, stopped it, and got home before someone coined the phrase "Legionaire's Disease". No government bickering.

Two potentially devastating plagues wiped out without political rhetoric or bickering. Now politicians would rather see people die if it means more TV time and advancing their personal agenda. I have apologized to both of my grandchildren (11 & 13) for the **** my generation has let them to try to clean up.

Seems like most of the failed studies have been chloroquine. It looks like Hydroxychloroquine is the better of the two drugs.

Smoke is poison to the virus? Or the smoke's chemical reactions with lung cells deactivates the pathways the virus exploits? Just some guesses.

Bubba would you turn down HCQ if you or a loved one had it bad would you turn it down since you keep insisting it is not medically indicated and Trump is pushing it for a weird benefit??

Trump is schooling the press and pointing out the lies the Media has said about Trump's and the task force's handling of the crisis.
Fauci also said evey time He and Birtz asked Trump to do something Trump did it
I like that Trump doesn't take chit from the press.

The media are trying to discount the vid which included clips of media outlets reporting lies.
Media saying it is a campaign vid
Lol their jaws are clinched so tight being called out
