Coronavirus

Ah Bubba
You KNOW the media and pundits bashed Trump for saying he wanted to try the malaria meds.
Yeah... and Fox News criticizes the Democrats. Everybody trying to do something has to live with criticism. You know ... I hate to complain. When China started dealing with this this was a novel human infection. Still they had fewer cases (assuming they are telling the truth) than we have, though we had 2-3 month head start to prepare. What could we have done better? I dunno... but our handling has not been perfect.

Assuming they're telling the truth is a huge assumption. :p It's bad here but if you look at Europe it could be a lot worse.

before I get the virus "this is alarmist, overreaction, horse hockey!"

after I get the virus "we shoulda shut 'er down months ago!! cough cough cough"
Not so fast, my friend.

I'm starting to think I and some others had this back in January. I had a mysterious illness on a trip that is very similar to all the symptoms of CV. The FO I flew with got it a couple days later. I have spoken to a few others who had the symptoms.

I may have it, again, right now, albeit very mild this time if I do.

I think you are likely joking, but you won't hear me saying shoulda, woulda, coulda.

Flu season Oct 1-March 21, 2020

38–54 million cases
400,000-700,000 hospitalization
24,000-62,000 deaths

CoronaVirus today

104,000 cases
1,700 deaths

I think I have it, but also I have only minor symptoms. No fever. I’m not getting tested. I have a cold but going to the doctor is not an option because of the hysteria.

I’ll see what happens and trust in my faith. I’m 52 and healthy. If it’s my time, then at least Barry and Longest would be happy. I would too. :hookem:

I had that same flu in January. Not trying to sound gross but it took 2 weeks to get the mucous out of my body. Could barely breathe. I've never had anything like it before.

Pretty sure mine wasn't flu. Dry coughing, terrible headache but no aches really. Lasted about 5 days.

Models are predicting 40-80k deaths in the US through Aug. Likely highly inflated, but that is what would happen if there was little social distancing. By the way, I don’t believe in the outcome of these models. I could believe 20k.

I predicted about 10K when it first started. I think I might have been off a bit.
Most deaths will depend on the severity of the peak, so we will know the answer for the most part in next 30 days (in other words no need to wait until August).

I thought that with like most coronaviruses that the heat would help us get rid of it. It's looking more and more that Covid-19 is not seasonal.

Yep. The next 30 days should tell us what we need to know.

In all honesty I had all the symptoms right after Xmas. Ran me down, and I do mean down. Shortness of breath to the point I had to drop to a knee a couple of times to keep from passing out. Really sick and like nothing I'd gone thru before

Tested for the flu - negative. For good measure was sent to a cardiologist - waste of time. I work out 7 days a week including spin bike routines, I knew that wasn't the problem but felt my body had a badass infection. That's exactly what it felt like. Constant cough, headache, a persistent slight fever - or at least felt like it, and a higher than normal white cell count in my blood test.

A couple of people in the house caught it (stepson age 35, grandbaby age 2), but my symptoms were far worse than theirs thank goodness. Some bad **** was going around after Xmas for certain

I think another side effect of a quarantine for 30 days will be overall health of middle age and older Americans who do exercise in gyms. I work out everyday. Either walk three miles on a treadmill or lift weights at a gym. I’ve found it really difficult to get the same workout outside. Being healthy is a key to defeating viruses like this.

I've been fortunate in this respect in that I ride a bike, and I don't mean a stationary one in a gym. I can still get outside and put in a standard cardio workout as long as the weather cooperates.

Maybe we should announce a bailout of the airlines
Then keep delaying it
Until finally we cancel
and give them hotel vouchers instead?
We’ll make them wait on the fiscal tarmac. If they behave, maybe we’ll throw in some drink vouchers as well.

My wife has a friend whose significant other was a man in his mid 50s in fairly poor health his whole life. They lived in the DFW area. He unexpectedly died “of the flu with pneumonia” one night shortly before Christmas. He got sick, was quickly hospitalized, and the next thing you know he’s dead. Everybody thought it was strange at the time. This was before we knew of the coronavirus. Could be flu/pneumonia, could be Coronavirus...?

I think you are likely joking, but you won't hear me saying shoulda, woulda, coulda.
both.

perhaps hyperbole of the typical person's selfishness.

Sincerely ... can't really make a judgement on this without accurate information ... but that's not stopping the left/MSM from critcizing Trump/Administration's actions early on.

Hello.

Bro, I want you to be miserable on Saturdays from about 9/1/xxxx to 12/15/xxxx (that means no bowl season). I don't want you dead. Godspeed. I'll ask Barry to pray for you. :)

I’m still in bed & I know if I get up I’ll be hacking and coughing. So far it’s in my left lung only. I ride a bike too for cardiovascular excersize.. Not sure if today will happen, but it usually makes me feel better. I’ll probably do it out of spite!

commentary:
Even if 25% of us missed a week of work over this, we should turn on the economy anyway and work through this. We let the media and Dems shut down 90% of our economy. This is an upper respiratory flu. If this was 1980 that’s how this would have been handled! Technology, the internet and twitter are really dogging the National perception right now. But those tools will also be used to get America up off the mat again. We need to fight for this economy and our sports, travel, entertainment industries to get going again ASAP. I’m not saying April but ASAP. We all need this or we’ll all be on the Government dole in 6 months! By May we ought to turn things on again and in some cases by Easter. We have the technology to pull it off!
VY played a 60 minute football game with the flu! Vs Aggie 2005.

I'd guess 30k US. I worry about what happens when it rolls through the homeless populations, prisons, ghetto, etc. It seems like when it clusters it gets stronger.

For those of you potentially with it I watched a completely unverified video claiming that ibuprofen like products make it much worse. So, tylenol.

A nurse that works for me has a mother who's a small town primary care NP. She documented about 140 cases that were negative for flu A and B yet flu-like symptoms. She had it herself. She had a student with her that helped her document it. She's trying to figure out a way to run some s/p blood tests to see if she can find some kind of marker. Interesting.

yes, evidently the NSAIDs (non-steroid?). I don't recall the basis of why ... but if it's accurate, doesn't really matter WHY, does it?

bummer ... cause a small dose of advil has always done me good in my middle age post ranch work.
