For me it wasn't so much any lack of FDA approval. The approvals that the FDA gave were on an accelerated time line. Still not that big of a concern for me. I think in general FDA approval should be less costly and take less time to get.

For me it was the fact that this was a completely new technology to use for vaccines. If the COVID vaccine was a killed virus or attenuated, I would have had a totally different opinion.

Even bigger for me is government distribution and pushing of the vaccine on people (thanks Trump), mandates, and people taking pictures of themselves getting a shot. The whole subject turned nutty.

Worse was that health officials acted like Vitamin D, HCQ and Ivermectin never worked, when they had data even before the pandemic that it did. Then they had more data after, and suppressed it. All so they could justify a new vaccine. All they had to do was make sure millions of people were dying before of the virus before it was ready. It's the best advertisement.

It's not a problem. It's a good thing. Acting like it didn't work was a problem. We should have acted like it did work and taken a more holistic approach that involved treatment as well as the vaccine instead of ridiculing anyone who didn't buy into the "vaccine or bust" mentality. That was dumb, and it likely cost lives. It sure as hell damaged the credibility of our public health institutions.

82% or so of adults have taken the vaccine. We were told at the high end that we need 85% vaccinated. We are almost there. They have failed to modulate even under their own rules.

I gave the same qualifier. I said I would take a vaccine that didn’t come out before the election and that the medical community supported. Reasonable. Trump was touting the vaccine like he was his tax release or his ACA replacement - “we are really close, just a few more weeks” or some ********. Then, turns out he’s the ***** grabber who cried wolf and he was close to right. It’s like rain on your wedding day, or a free ride when you already paid, the good advice that you just didn’t take, who would have thought? It figures. Very ironic.

I actually think my vaccine works, so rather than trying to look righteous about wearing a mask to show solidarity, I'd rather let the $11/hr sucker take his off and breathe normally.
