Coronavirus

Plus there will be a great buying opportunity once the American public realizes this is overblown hysteria.

That is exactly how it's done. Wait until the market bottoms out, buy, ride it back up, sell when it peaks after a few years or so, and get long term capital gains treatment. The current tax rates on LTCGs at 0%, 15%, or 20% depending on taxable income level, so lots of funds that would have gone to the IRS as taxes, stays in your pocket. Buy in a bear, sell in a bull, take you capital gain, just make sure it qualifies as a long-term gain.

I got tested today. Negative. Apparently I have a cold. I asked what would my treatment be if I had tested positive. The answer?

Nothing. Go home, go to bed and rest. Don’t touch your face, pick your nose or read posts by LongestHorn or Bubba. Free up cash when the market bottoms.

Chicken Noodle soup works wonders. Nothing wrong with 2 fingers of a fine bourbon before bed.

As of March 7, Food and Drug Administration Commissioner Stephen Hahn said the CDC has sent out enough test kits to test 75,000 people. But those are just the tests sent to public health labs. An additional 1.1 million tests (produced by private industry) have been sent out to non-public commercial and academic labs, according to Hahn. In all, he estimated 850,000 Americans are able to be tested.

Currently, according to the American Enterprise Institute, 16,030 Covid-19 tests can be processed in the US a day, up from 7,840 a few days ago.

Some labs have much higher capacity than others. Even the corporate diagnostic companies like Quest and LabCorp only have the capacity to run 1,000 and 1,500 tests a day, respectively. Your ability to get tested may depend on where you live, the lab your physician uses, and the judgment of your doctor.

How much is it due to their actions or it possible that the virus is winding down in those countries on its own? Maybe a little of both?

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) estimates that so far this season, there have been at least 15 million flu illnesses for the 2019-2020 season, 140,000 hospitalizations and 8,200 deaths in the U.S.

Why Is there so much hysteria for CoronaVirus? Well we all know the answer.
Because it's 10 times more deadly than the flu and more communicable.
You think the CDC and experts aren't giving Trump council?

When he blocked flights from China he got called a racist and when he blocks flights from Europe hes attacked.

Jesus, swine flu killed a ton of people but there wasn't near this level of hysteria....
He fired the experts in 2018. I don't think he listened to the experts until this week. As of Friday he was poopooing it and referring to the "perfect and beautiful" test kits that have yet to appear. At the point we were on about Monday South Korea had tested 100,000. We were at like 6,500. Significant difference.

Saw this open letter to Jim Wrong Way Inhofe on facebook:

United States Senator Jim Inhofe;

Yesterday, I awoke with flu like symptoms with cough, fever, runny nose headache and difficulty in breathing.

Today, the symptoms have worsened and expanded to include weakness and sore throat.

Since I am 67 years of age and have hypertension plus a regurgitating heart valve, I called the local urgent care clinic in Durant since I live on the Oklahoma side of Lake Texoma. They told me they could not perform the corona virus test and I needed to contact my primary care physician.

I contacted my primary care physician and she said they do not have access to the swab kits or how to interpret the tests. She further indicated the testing is a joke as the physicians must also requisition testing clearance forms from the Health Department prior to any testing.

Next, I contacted my cardiologist with Baylor Scott White and he apologized but burst out laughing as he is convinced there is no testing available and the massive red tape is a means of concealing the lack of testing actually available.

Next, I contacted the Oklahoma Department of Health Coronavirus hot line. After waiting 45 minutes I finally spoke to a lady who told me and I quote; “could not get a test unless I was in the high risk group.” I told her I thought I was in that group as I was now in my second day being symptomatic and I had heart issues.

She advised I needed to call my primary care physician and they could “requisition a test.” I asked what that entailed and she told me forms would need to be completed and after the forms were completed, the swab test could be sent to the Oklahoma Health Department lab for testing. Asking how long that would take and she said a “week to 10 days.” I asked wouldn’t I be dead by then.

Finally, I emailed Oklahoma Governor Stitt’s OKC office asking where I could get tested.

They told me to contact the Oklahoma Health Department Corona virus hot line. I emailed them back I had already done that and got a run around response about primary care doctors, forms to be requested, completed then submitted for a test which might take 10 days to know if I need to take additional precautions if I’m infected.

The public has been and is continuing to be hoodwinked by the Trump Administration. The Trump Administration made the irresponsible decision to decline the World Health Organization tests and the American public is now paying for that bush league decision.

Senator Inhofe, I’ve known you ever since you first got elected to the US Senate in ‘94 and you know I’m a straight shooter. Please pass along to POTUS I think my cardiologist was spot on that it is a red tape hoodwinking of the public masking there aren’t any tests available.

Thank you.

So the reality is people are asking to be tested who don’t need to be tested. Again, more examples of the liberal hysteria. If you have a cold, you just need to stay home UNLESS you are compromised. I’m tempted to break rules here, but I have too much respect for HF and Dion.
I posted a story earlier of a couple returning from Paris with symptoms that could not get tested. We had an ICE employee who was symptomatic. He didn't qualify either. You have to have been in China or have had contact with someone who had a positive test.

Two pages into googling "trump criticism for blocking china flights" and I find no racist name calling. I find some public health scientists who claim that travel bans do no good. That's it.

I mean it doesn't mean he's not a racist..... ;)

Blame the arrogant ******** at CDC. Nothing has changed since Ebola

I've said it more than once. My fiancee got a test earlier this week. I don't know where you find your stories... but the climate out there is to suppress anything good because of panic and Liberals politicizing the situation.

Yes, possibly winding down due to herd immunity as people become immune.

Good question. There are two models to look at. in China and South Korea they set up fever clinics in parking lots outside of hospitals. Anyone that had a fever was taken to a different location for testing. They then went to gymnasiums where they relaxed for two weeks, effectively, being detained for the safety of the community. Men, women, and children all separated. This blunted the exponential growth. Italy did the voluntary quarantine model.

Maybe Texas has plenty. I don't know. The Missouri rule is you have to have traveled to China, Italy or Iran; or have been in contact with someone who's tested positive. The letter to Inhofe is from a former long time mayor in Oklahoma.

It’s not methican. Once the world realizes it is a common cold and largely not reported, it will have a next to zero death rate. But run to Costco and buy toilet paper. We could run out.

But your 78 year old mom, should stay away from the public. I get that. But hyping the hysteria isn’t benefiting her son or grandchildren.

Large bowl of hot chicken tortilla soup (Chuy’s is excellent) with some fresh lime juice squeezed in it. I think that could even go half the way towards curing Ebola.

I don't know either.
