Coronavirus

Again with masks:

1) the mask does not protect you UNLESS it’s N-95. These are in shortage for healthcare providers. If you have them, send to your local hospital. A mask might prevent you from passing your virus to others, but then again, why are you going to the grocery store if you are infected?

2) As the government as stated, don’t bring in cloth bags to grocery stores, because they can carry the virus. Why are cloth masks surrounding your mouth and nose a good idea?

Didn't you know, you should use a plastic bags as your mask.

Abbott has made it clear no one has to open up and we will not go to the next phase if there is a secondary flare up.
People do NOT have to leave their homes if they want to stay in.

Is a better plan to stay closed?

And that's what stupid about the freakouts. Opening up doesn't mean everybody in the state starts rolling around and French kissing. There are guidelines to be followed to minimize risk, and of course, most people have some degree of common sense.

You are not recommending Belgian style orgies?

Because huge numbers of people are infected and don't know it because they're asymptomatic. In fact, far more people fit into that category than who are ill. That's why this thing is hard to keep from spreading.

And as someone who wears glasses, I friggin' hate the mask. It makes my glasses fog up, so I've had to wear contact lenses, which are less comfortable and have to be sanitized daily. However, I do wear a mask in indoor public places. In my state in Germany, it just became required now that they're starting to open things up, but I don't have a big problem with it, even if it's a pain in the ***. If it makes it easier to let these poor business owners and their employees get back to work and at least start to recover what they've lost through no fault of their own, I'm willing to do it.

(By the way, **** China and the corrupt frauds at the World Health Organization. This is their fault more than it's anyone else's. I've never been a fan of the UN and their institutions, but I wasn't a big hater until now. They can pretty much suck it.)

Just about every distillery out there is making a line of hand sanitizer now. Most of them are liquid, not gel, but they are effective.

I would hope so. It's gotta be pretty damn profitable. I paid almost $9 for this, and that was the "Sonderpreis" (sale or special price).

My point of view is not popular. My belief is that they are recommending cloth masks to prevent and stop the run on N-95 masks needed to actually protect healthcare workers in hospitals.

The evidence is that cloth masks mildly help prevent the spread. However, it requires compliance with proper protocols on how to put the mask on, wear it and clean it. As I watch people rub their faces, wear it below their nose and generally do stupid things, I doubt the mask movement is doing much more than preventing the shortage of N-95’s.

Do face masks work against the coronavirus and should you wear one?

I read this on the interwebz so it must be true.
Paper towels are more effective than cloth masks. The study recommended adding a piece of paper towel inside your cloth mask.

this is devolving into infighting about masks, communism, orgies, etc. I miss when we could just share food, recipes, bar bq at a spring game.
our country needs to wake up and come together. All parties, everyone. R’s and D’s. We need another “I have a dream” speech. Not sure who could make it. I am determined to better myself and my family throughout all this. Stay positive!

I actually watched a guy smoke a cigarette while continuously pulling his mask down as needed while standing near the door of the grocery store. Epitome of stupid. Anybody think he was protecting others when he went in to shop?

It should be noted there will be some spikes. Hopefully we have learned enough to contain them but they will happen.
This virus is insidious.
