Coronavirus

Encouraging data still continues to come in. Miami-Dade Co. seralogy study results were released today. The estimate is that the infection rate is 15xs the confirmed number. That puts IFR there around 0.2%.

The article doesn't give all the detail, but is a good place to start.
My wife and I took the AB test yesterday here in SoCal. We opted for the blood draw, Quest test instead of the quick, prick test.

My concern, false positives: How reliable is the technology to differentiate between coronavirus antibodies — like those for the common cold, and Covid-19? And what percentage of C-19 antibodies, if found, is believed to be sufficient to indicate some level of immunity?

Two respected medical professionals here have expressed reassuring opinions, but I’m not sold on the testing reliability just yet.

A lawsuit has been filed against one of the Chinese-owned Smithfield Foods plants, claiming it created a public nuisance by failing to protect workers from infection by the Wuhan virus.

In addition, for years workers there endured repetitive stress injuries on the processing line- and urinary tract infections because they had so few bathroom breaks. Workers are required to stand almost shoulder to shoulder, go hours without being able to clean their hands.

Will be interesting to see if Smithfield applied for, and received virus-related bailout funds

A new economy? My wife had her hair done today and also a separate manicure at home. All cash, no tax- much cheaper. I’m guessing this is not an anomaly. As libs try to crash the economy, capitalism will win.

Government intervention always creates a black market. The demand for a good/service doesn't go away, it goes underground. Another place where bitcoin can really help. If more people used it, there would be more value stability, then you could pay electronically, anonymously, with a more stable currency. In the meantime cash will work though.

I am against my will becoming a vegetarian again. I would not feed my dog what they put out under the new owners. Can you say Chinese wet market?

Ah, but who was tested? Do you feel lucky? Dead people are not part of the economy.

It is now the age of self reliance. Strange concept, no?

What is even more serious and less understood is the role of asymptomstic carriers. Also strong evidence that survivors may not have secondary immunity for very long if at all. Now 30 mutations identified by Chinese medical professionals. Kind of like the flu or common cold. That is very scary on the long term.

Humans that do not eat will die. You can choose to be a subject of government and let them give you food they see as acceptable. I will choose to live free and accept the consequences.

Everyone who dies now is counted as a coronavirus death. I suspect, the higher the count, the higher the federal funding you receive

Pennsylvania has had to remove hundreds of coronavirus deaths from its official death count this week, following questions of accuracy and highlighted discrepancies by area coroners.

The PA health department decided to include “probable” coronavirus deaths, or an assumed COVID-19-related death without testing for the virus, to their death tolls, dating back days and even weeks ago. But the death toll spike raised questions from coroners who came forward to highlight a discrepancy in death totals, which were not adding up to the number of all-cause deaths.

The scrutiny triggered multiple revisions and statements from the department, including the removal of 200 “probable” COVID-19 deaths and a claim of computer “glitching.”

So now my city is looking at dismantling the $17M temporary Hospital
Never saw a single patient

....Consider that the funds set aside for small businesses in the Paycheck Protection Program ran out in a matter of weeks. And that’s the federal government. State governments have even less budgetary room to play around with, and counties have even less money.

So imagine what Harris County, home to Houston, must be feeling right now given that when it’s all said and done, they will have spent about $17 million on a temporary hospital that has yet to see a single patient.

According to KPRC-TV, the coronavirus hospital could have cost Harris County as much as $60 million. Instead, the final price tag will likely be around $17 million, even though the facility did virtually nothing — which is why it could soon be closed.

“Construction on the temporary medical shelter began just over two weeks ago and was finished in a matter of days. It features 250 beds and is equipped to handle an influx of COVID-19 patients,” KPRC reported of the temporary hospital, which is situated at NRG Park.

A friend of mine had his hair stylus cut his and his kids, brother in law and his kids hair in his garage. The lady that cut the hair said she could lose her license if they told anyone! Unbelievable! We’ve gone full Nazi take over. Just saw two California Epidemiologists host a video saying this is a flu pandemic. Corona Virus is much more like the flu than anything else. 6-8% of CA has already contracted it. Final synopsis was: end the quarantine today and begin herd immunity proceedings.
