Coaching News and Rumors

Wait,
You saying:
Praying the rosary
Pergatory
Worshipping Mary
Confessionals
Worshipping saints
These things come from the Bible?
No, these are traditions of men not God.
But I don't think we're are on the right thread for this.
Yeah, if my word “ritual” included all that, I way oversimplified. I really meant a narrower category of chants and prayers ; Chop opened up a thread in Quackenbushes for this, but the main thing that made me post anything at all was the idea that seriously applied evangelicals would not recognize the language of the Hail Mary prayer as being from the Luke 1 Christmas story. Any Protestant who had never yet stumbled across Luke 1 would not be hard core in my opinion—but really I was just quibbling, as I admitted.

Arizona: Don Brown (Michigan DC, fired) is the new DC. Note, other than 2020, Don Brown's D stats were very, very good. For U. of Ariz. football, I'd say they did quite well with this hire.

Don Brown's D. Stats (before falling off the cliff in 2020):
  • 2014 at Boston College: 11th in the country
  • 2015 at Boston College: 1st
  • 2016 at Michigan: 1st
  • 2017 at Michigan: 3rd
  • 2018 at Michigan: 2nd
  • 2019 at Michigan: 11th
Jedd Fisch hints at Arizona hiring Don Brown as new defensive coordinator

They're calling him "Dr. Blitz".

Auburn: Harsin brings LB coach Jeff Schmedding from Boise St. Mike Bobo (So. Car. OC & SBs) and Will Friend (Tenn. OL) are also additions to the Auburn staff.

I hope Hardin does well, I like him but admit my prejudice having two grandchildren graduating from Boise State.

"Not to quibble...", but quibble, quibble, quibble...
:argue:
:catfight:
:soapbox:
:tap:

:beertoast:

I'm no theology expert, but perhaps we should do a theology discussion in the Quackenbush forum. This was all just silliness inspired by Baylor's rather odd decision regarding Coach Pugh. Hmmmmm, my sentence above brings to mind the method of just how the Bible was inspired...

I’m a quibbler from way back. Quibbling is my mother tongue...

Mostly, I was interested by the point you made, and wanted to talk about it; not bothered.

I want in on this^^^^^^ action and will be on that thread as soon as see an opportunity....today

I brought up Georgia specifically about a year and a half or two ago and got argument from a couple here....
I was saying there is no way UGA all of a sudden, justly and honestly, jumped to the top of national recruiting rankings for a couple of years....made no sense at the time

I was not among those arguing with you
The rest of the SEC got sick of the Alabama/Auburn bagman game
So they caught themselves up
Now the rest of the country is way behind the SEC bagman game

Georgia will get a slap on the wrist and probation, but no meaningful penalty. Bama and Auburn will continue unabated.

Georgia will get drug through the swamp, get a slap on the wrist and probation.

I disagree. The NCAA will send in it's private investigators, who while lurking around Athens, will miraculously discover a serious defalcation involving a former recruit now at Georgia State. State will receive a three year ban on post season play, reduction in scholarships, while UGA gets a warning, reduced visits to The Varsity, BUT NO ONE will follow up when the private investigator is driving a new Escalade Denali.

What are we going to do about it?
Not much since the death penalty is permanently off the table. Look how long it took to get to the bottom of the Reggie Bush caused problems at USC versus the penalties that were given to USC (all they could do to Reggie was take is Heisman away). USC hurt for a couple of seasons (seemed longer due to the coaching/AD issues). The average SC fan will say the two Heisman's and one NC were worth the (less call them) indiscretions.

The beauty of the USC deal was the NCAA cutting them from 25 to 15 scholarships, yet their 15 still put them in Top 10 (maybe Top 5) classes.

That did major damage to USC.

And Petey got the h$11 out of Dodge as the posse was en route.

Auburn apparently doesn't have enough dough.
We already slapped UGA...and their little pup, too.
Maybe we can slap Bama ourselves in '22?

If we decided to, we could bring the heat on all of them
Think of those Miss schools trying to keep up. Did you know that they have been targeting Texas kids for for special admission for two decades now? They want to build their own wealthy alumni base. So they searched the mineral rights records and tried to money ball college admissions. Not athletes, just normal students.

I dont think the NCAA is willing to do this anymore
They dont seem willing to do much about anything

LSU -- will likely get new DC Marcus Freeman (Cincy DC), at much cost $$$$$

Michigan -- will keep Harbaugh, but cut his salary in half. :yikes:
But, there are incentives that would allow Harbaugh to make up the difference based on performance. Hmmmmm, cool idea there Big Blue...

Michigan is also courting Mike MacDonald (NFL Ravens LBs) as a potential new DC.
Michigan Football: Grading the expected hire of Mike MacDonald as DC

South Carolina -- Marcus Satterfield (NFL Carolina Panthers OL) will be the Cocks' new OC

Arkansas does this also. They give tuition breaks to kids from bordering states. The higher your grades the better tuition break you get. My nephew is a Sr at Bacon U and gets a pretty decent discount.

It is the $EC. The NCAA will tell them to play nice and don't do it again. That is all.

Time for us to learn that lesson?
If we punched back at our full weight class, it might get bloody out there

I was told Georgia got sloppy in recruiting.

Translation - they got caught

What are we going to do about it?

Obligatory...again...

To whomever would hire him...bless their hearts.

As Sabre noted, it would be some 4th tier school or activist school.
