Coaching News and Rumors

I was excited when we got Harsin because he described how he had offensive players follow him down the sideline with him in case he wanted "play x" which would require a couple of backups to be inserted for the play. Mack never allowed Harsin to use that process. Maybe he'll have success at Auburn offensively because of that process? Better players?

...You win games with Jimmys and Joes. ....

My memory of Harsin then was that he had some good schemes but we did not have the proper personnel to run them. Our OL in particular was just not capable of his desired level of execution.

I think how the media describes this sort of behavior depends purely on who did it
If this was Herman, it would be immature, childish, diva-like
With Campbell, it was “passion” and “fighting for his players”
They pretty much cover politics the same way

I thought this 4 min breakdown of the Campbell rants during the game was spot on. And I agree with you 100% that we would be roasting TH over this behavior.

Well, at least at Auburn he won't have to deal with any fan, admin, or booster interference in the way he runs the show.
:rolleyes1:

Yep, very disgusting and childish, exactly the things we like to roast TH over.

Unless we missed something which adds context, I am disappointed and probably need to modify my assessment. Such behavior is certainly not what I expected to see with Campbell. Passion is one thing. Completely losing it is another.

Arizona - hires Jedd Fisch (NE Patriots QB coach) as their new HC to replace Sumlin. Guess they're going for some serious passing game expertise out there. That place needs some serious help in the football department.

Arizona hires Patriots assistant Fisch as head coach

Here are 5 things to know about Jedd Fisch, Arizona's new football coach

Pac-12 stock report: Arizona hires Jedd Fisch (and fans aren't happy)
So your saying Sumlin WASN'T a passing game coach?!?! Who knew?

I don't get the reaction here to Campbell.
Under the circumstances....in that game, against that team, all things considered...I don't see what the big deal is.
There's plenty of times I wish TH showed more passion, fight, and took issue with refs or things which occur during games. Was it over the top? Sure it was. But, I for one, thought it fit the occassion....and they reeled off a few big plays after that and quickly got into scoring position with alot of momentum. Purdy squandered it with a real forced and unnecessary throw or else that moment may be looked back on the moment the game turned in favor of ISU.

So coach, have the anger management classes helped you out?

In all seriousness, this was nothing compared to more than a few things Woody Hayes did in live games over the years.

All you purported offensive geniuses out there (especially those who still bother to negatively critique the play of our QBs from 20 years ago): Entry level opportunities abound. Full disclosure--these might be a tad more difficult than taking pot shots from the internet...

I want a free drink ticket for every sack we suffer, and every missed tackle. For some games, I may have to build back my tolerance a bit.

I'm sure many of our posters will be in line for both of those jobs and Hornfans will the worse off when they fill the jobs.
