Coaching News and Rumors

Let’s see how LSU’s offense performs in the 2020 season and then assess Brady’s talent. My opinion is that Joe Burrows has plenty to do with Brady’s “brilliance” this year.

After all, how outstanding of a coach would Belichick have been without his Brady? Probably about 6 less Super Bowl wins less outstanding.

I feel just the opposite, Joe was talented, but it was his coaching that took Burrow to the next level. Reminds me of when Pete Carroll arrived at USC with Carson Palmer.

If that’s true we’re in for another very tough game in Baton Rouge in September. But I’ll stick with my observation, that Borrows was very special, and greatly responsible for Brady’s newfound reputation.

Greg Davis was a brilliant OC without equal during Vice Young’s final season.

He wasn’t too shabby when Colt was on fire either.

He also wasn't too Shabby when Major was here as well. I think we gave him a lot more grief than he deserved, but that is my 20/20 hindsight talking. The same will be said of Beck.

It was wise of Greg Davis to let Vince be Vince.
Before that, certain teams just had his number, and when we had a bad day on offense, it was miserable.
After Vince, what he did with Colt was phenomenal. I think he had learned to trust his players and call aggressive play calls in tough games.
And I don't blame him for what happened in 2010 at all. That was 100% on Mack's very bad, poor, lame-brained, dumb, not good decisions after the Alabama MNC.

If Colt had played behind a good OL, we might have another 1-2 National Championships.

Probably give credit to the LSU OL for some of Burrow's success.

1/15

Auburn -- Jack Bicknell (Ole Miss OL) becomes the new OL coach on the Alabama plains.

Baylor -- looking at Justin Fuente (Va. Tech) and others to replace Rhule. I don't know anything about this new Manny __iaz rumor, but stranger things have happened. Other rumors (just rumors) circulating on the web include coaches like Dave Aranda, Kevin Steele, and Joey McGuire (internal promotion). Some Baylor fans are posting that an announcement should happen at the Baylor basketball game tonight (also just rumors). Much intrigue (and drama) on the banks of the Brazos. We'll see what happens. If it's poor Manny __iaz, I hope they don't boo the guy.

Colorado State -- Joey Lynch (Ball State OC) becomes the new OC for the Rams. Mike Treier (Florida St. analyst) comes on as the safeties coach.

Mississippi State - the Pirate is expected to bring much of his rowdy crew from the Palouse to the forests of Mississippi. Offensive coaches Mason Miller (OL), Eric Mele (RBs), Dave Nichol (WRs), and Steve Spurrier, Jr. (WRs) will join Leach at MSU. Leach is still beating the bushes looking for Defensive coaching talent. (He'll need it...)

Missouri State -- Hires choirboy Bobby Petrino as the new HC.

Notre Dame -- Tommy Rees (ND QBs) is promoted to be the new Irish OC.

Oregon -- Joe Moorhead (Miss. State HC) will likely be the Ducks' new OC. Nothing official yet.

Rutgers -- hires Robb Smith (aTm analyst and former Minnesota and Arkansas DC) as the Knights' new DC.

Washington State -- hires Nick Rolovich (Hawaii HC) as their new head coach. The Pirate has been replaced up on the Palouse. This man can coach QBs (Hawaii's MacDonald was his latest project). Rolovich will have to replace all, or almost all, of the offensive coaches after Leach has raided them.

Why the hell would Baylor consider Kevin Steele? He has already failed their once - failed to win and failed while cheating his *** off.

I have to call ******** and wild unfounded speculation on any list that includes Steele & Diaz.

Hence the abundant qualifications with this one: "... I don't know anything about this new Manny __iaz rumor, but stranger things have happened. Other rumors (just rumors) circulating on the web include..."

I don't know why they would want Manny or Steele either. They could do a lot better.

TCU--

Patterson brings in some new staff members to replace recent departures.

Jerry Kill (Va. Tech special offensive asst., former Minnesota HC)
Doug Meacham (former TCU co-CO, former KU OC, St Louis BattleHawks HC :rolleyes1:)
Bryan Applewhite (Colorado State RBs)

Note: despite spending his last year coaching the "St. Louis Battle Hawks" (whoever they are), Meacham was previously a finalist for the Broyles Award while serving as OC at TCU in 2014. The man is certainly not chopped liver. These moves come after the Frogs' recent misfortune when a number of their top assistant coaches hopped to greener lily ponds.
