Coaching News and Rumors

I concur. Southern Idaho is effectively an extension of Utah, but without the scenery.

I spent some time at a ranch outside Boise, which is sort of southwest Idaho. It was so beautiful, I wanted to move there.

With Leach, Miss State will not play defense, thus get killed in the SEC. He will force DCs to burn the midnight oil, but will not win many games; as the SEC is not the 3 yards and cloud of dust teams they used to be.

That's a misconception. He hired a very good DC at Texas Tech and at WSU the last couple of years (not sure about 2019, but before) his defense was arguably better than the offense.

Edit: At WSU, it was none other than Alex Grinch.

I'll take it over the lunacy that seems to pervade policy out west...at least you can walk down the street without stepping in someone's waste or without being impeded by their sidewalk-situated tent.
More rural Eastern Washington is quite different from the urban centers in Western Washington.

I've spent time in both states. Miss. is still in the dark ages in many respects. Abject poverty, terrible public education, poor economy, and then I could name the really bad aspects of the state but I won't.

Washington is not the promised land, but the natural beauty of the state is something to behold, the high tech opportunities, the booming economy, the forward thinking environmental policies, do put the state in the 21st century.

So, if I had to live in one or the other, its Washington for me 100%.

I used to make the drive between Utah and Canada up IH 15, I hated the trip through Idaho, the whole drive is through what looks like Volcanic ash, like I said, it's what I picture hell looking like. And yes, going towards Yellowstone, Idaho is pretty but the I-15 section is horrible. Don't get me started on Eastern Montana, there is nothing there but flat land and prairie dogs. Oh and I can't forget the crickets.
Don't forget the mosquitos! There were swarms like I haven't seen before. And I have lived in Houston. At one point they were pelting the windshield as we drove through town.

Mike Leach is without peer!!
So he gets off the plane in s Miss state colors ringing a cowbell.
Of course they will love him.
And the bull dog mascot with a pirate patch.
Hope he does well . They will have wild off seaon.
I like Mike.

Mighty SEC!! I think Leach will surprise some of those all might SEC teams that seldom play anyone other than their division teams and 1-2 more than would be mediocre at best

Well, having lived in WA about 20 years off and on, it is a great place with the most beautiful scenery when you can see it, but it is a little too politically correct.

In 1974 during the great Oil Crisis, the Republican governor Dan Evans preempted the Federal government and instituted a 50 MPH speed limit state wide. Then after the Feds set the limit at 55 MPH, the state had to correct all the signs they had just installed.

I could continue, but I will not.

And UW has a new coach as well. Plenty of change in Mississippi and Washington.

On the State of Washington, back before the rise of Microsoft (and other tech) and the Seattle music scene, they were down in the dumps for quite a while. Boeing was downsizing and moving jobs elsewhere, and the lumber business was hurting with all that spotted owl stuff.

Of course, in the mid and late 80s, Texas was down in the dumps with the prolonged oil crash and the S&L crisis. Now look at us.

In 1974 or so, there was a billboard just south of downtown saying, "Will the last person leaving Seattle please turn out the lights?

Boeing is the airplane and defense contractor. He was originally a boat builder.

LSU is keeping Joe Brady
New deal 3 yrs/~$3M+

From Sports Illustrated:
The deal would reportedly protect the Tigers from losing Brady to other college assistant jobs. The 30-year-old is highly regarded after helping mastermind quarterback Joe Burrow's historic season.

But the extension gives Brady flexibility to leave LSU for a college head coaching position or a job in the NFL. The Carolina Panthers are reportedly eyeing him for their offensive coordinator position.

He left $1.8M on the table if he had signed with Texas, minimum.
Let’s see how LSU’s offense performs in the 2020 season and then assess Brady’s talent. My opinion is that Joe Burrows has plenty to do with Brady’s “brilliance” this year.

After all, how outstanding of a coach would Belichick have been without his Brady? Probably about 6 less Super Bowl wins less outstanding.
