Coaching News and Rumors

The aggies just got a big burr up their collective rear end. Nobody gets under their skin like Mike Leach. He'll be a thorn in their side for as long as he's there. Even with inferior talent, Leach will likely beat the ags at least half the time. And he'll make comments that will spin them up.
I bet by year two or three he will out recruit Jimbo too and Jimbo will head to the Bahamas with $30M aTm dollars.

I think Starkville will give Leach plenty of latitude to act crazy and say off-the-wall things. As long as he has a winning record (and beats Ole Miss) most years, he'll be welcome, and they'll put up with as much lunacy as Leach can deliver. If the program turns South, that's when the rug is pulled.

A rich crazy guy is "eccentric", while a poor crazy guy is just crazy.

A winning crazy football coach is "eccentric" and "colorful", while a losing crazy football coach is fired.

Leach will never out recruit Fisher, but he will turn two and three stars into all SEC and NFL draft picks, while Fisher turns his five stars into major disappointments.

This...

As long as he does well, they will even foot the bill for another shed...

You have to win something to be in the NC discussion.

How will he do that, in the SEC? It's the land of actual defense, right? Will he bring his unvarnished Air Raid, or would he perhaps need to adjust to SEC realities? Sure would be interesting to see SEC defenses have to deal with what Big 12 defenses do.

Well, he won’t have to deal with a daddy’s boy whose father is a sportscaster with a vendetta.

The aggies finally got their long-sought “big heated rivalry” in the SEC. And another L on their record most years.

Better not let Leach find out there’s a bar founded by an actual pirate in New Orleans (Lafitte’s Blacksmith Shop). Road trips to LSU or any appearances by Leach’s Bulldogs in the Sugar Bowl could spell trouble.

Mississippi is the South of the South.

And the Delta (Northwest Mississippi—Greenville, Yazoo City, Cleveland, etc) is the Mississippi of Mississippi.

Starkville is in the Eastern part of the state. Not a lot going on there. MSU also has butt ugly campus architecture. It reminds me of aTm.

Have you visited the home of the Jolly Green Giant? Granted, Sun Lskes are beautiful, but those dried pea fields make Gruver look like an oasis.

The best thing about Pullman is its proximity to Northern Idaho—some of the most beautiful terrain on the planet.

Western Montana and Western Idaho are some of the most beautiful places in the United States, however the east side of Idaho and Montana might be the ugliest places on earch. Reminds me of what hell might look like.

have you spent any time in Mississippi?
As long as there is a Mississippi, Texas doesn’t have to worry about being ranked last in education, infant mortality, poverty, public health, literacy, etc.

In that sense, it’s actually good that such a place exists.

Disagree about NE Idaho, quite lovely.

I used to make the drive between Utah and Canada up IH 15, I hated the trip through Idaho, the whole drive is through what looks like Volcanic ash, like I said, it's what I picture hell looking like. And yes, going towards Yellowstone, Idaho is pretty but the I-15 section is horrible. Don't get me started on Eastern Montana, there is nothing there but flat land and prairie dogs. Oh and I can't forget the crickets.

It's kind of wild that both these head coaches are in the same state
