Coach Saban Retires

Early on, rumors were circulating that George Bailey's name was being mentioned as a possible successor to Saban. When reached for comment, Bailey replied explicitly that he'd driven through Alabama a few times and that he'd rather eat a bucket of his own waste than to live and work there.

For anyone who may still have concerns about Sark possibly taking this job I'll toss out my wife's question.

"Why on Earth would someone as cosmopolitan and trendy as Loreal want to be in Tuscaloosa instead of Austin. Not to mention their dislike for minorities and mixed race marriages."

In the comments at link this Dante admitted he should have used the word "allegedly ".
But would anyone be surprised Sark was offered? Or that he turned it down?
I can't think of a single reason our Coach would accept.
Coach Sarkesian has created a program/ culture here unparalleled with resources bigger than anywhere else. His and our future are blindingly bright.

Saban will be missed.

Someone on TexAgs noted that Sark’s crazy wife reportedly hated Tuscaloosa. Then another poster said why does that make her crazy? Touché.

Even if this is partially true, Sark would have turned down interest in the job, not the job itself. I am sure someone somewhere asked Sark if he was interested. Once again, people’s knowledge on how high dollar negotiations work is close to nil.

It is a step up for Laninng. . It is not for our Coach.
Have any sports writers experts or bloggers who actually covered Texas floated the possubility of Sark going to Bama?
Is there even one reason he would?

My take/perhaps wishful thinking. (Hope not.)

Sark is happy at Texas, as is his fashionista wife. (Austin versus Tuscaloosa?) He appreciates the opportunity that Texas gave him as he has voiced, many times.

My gut feel/hope is that he stays. It is likely however that his and everyone else’s agent (including Saban) Jimmy Sexton, will leverage the Bama opening for everything they can get. Bet CDC wishes that the raise/extension had been completed last week… It’s going to cost Texas.

Per ESPN about 10 min ago
"Dan Lanning, amid Alabama rumors, says he's staying at Oregon"
Smart man. He doesn't want to be the guy who follows Saban - he wants to be the guy that follows the guy who follows Saban. The guy who follows Saban can't possibly live up to the expectations - after he gets his three years before being fired, the next guy up will see more realistic expectations.

It ain’t over until it’s over. Denial is frequently a precursor to acceptance.

But to me, plenty about Norvell makes sense. Great young coach. Can leave the ACC. Low buyout. Who knows?

One source, about 30 minutes old. (It’s awfully quiet at Belmont.)
