Chance of Football in 2020

We need a red button that automatically moves a thread to WM that can be activated by anyone. LOL
I'd hit the red button on this^^^^^ if I had one because, if you did this^^^^^, people would "go nuclear" over every little thing, mc

Or should it be a blue button? That’s another thread for the WM.
Dion, As long as we are making requests...
In the best interests of all, of course, I'd like a button that just removes any post (or poster hehehe) I "don't like". Maybe a toilet bowl??
But the key here is I want it...as in...just a button for me.
Thanks in advance.
:)

Guess this is because championships will forever have an asterisk but still don’t think I like it. It just seems odd someone playing five years.

Now, I'm not trying to be a big meanie-head by saying this, but this story below is a great example of the illogical, unreasoned, and unnecessary knee-jerk reactions pervasive in many instances throughout the pandemic. Let's reason together here...
Many many many sports teams have reconvened at this point, college and pro. In every single case....every single one.....there have been positive tests -many times over a dozen or more - and in every single case it is handled effectvely, efficiently and without serious consequence or detriment to the team or staff and, quite soon, players are reintroduced to team, tests are negative, soon no positives at all, and the entire team (one b1g player who was improperly treated notwithstanding, though he even rejoined team) moves on with normal operations. So...yeah...it make sense for Vandy to suspend football activities due to a few positive tests. Does appear all the kiddos who weren't taught critical thinking in public school are grown up now and running some of these places...

This is what likely happened: at start of camp they tested everybody. As previously mentioned, some percentage will have COVID but no symptoms and some will test positive but already over the illness (non-contagious). Note there was no mention of anyone being symptomatic. Vanderbilt is behind the curve compared to UT.

Maybe behind the curve compared to everyone who reported to camp with intentions of playing - except those who completely bailed/CXd ball altogether??
I mean...The schools I am referring to not only reported and practiced but they had many positive tests and kept meeting/practicing and rocked along. Seems absurd to cx activities based on a few positive tests given the many examples of this success across the sport.
To each his own I suppose, but....

As a father of a freshman collegiate athlete, I disagree with this policy. This is just causing a pileup of athletes clogging up the process/system. My daughter lost pretty much her entire senior HS season. She was sad for a few weeks, but so what move on with life. It's the same with college.

In football it's easier because we're just going to add 20+ more players to the roster which adds depth considering how many injuries happen. For the partial scholarship sports with say a 25 roster limit like baseball/softball and significantly fewer injuries, you now have 30-33 players on a team where 9 people get to play while the other 24 are paying 75%ish tuition to sit. What's the point? To have a feel good story/decision?

Vol,

Good points.

FYI, Gus carried 40 on the roster and changed regularly the 25 suiting up, and occasionally the starting 9. Hard to divy up that money so many ways.

Vanderbilt has profited greatly from the pandemic and is a leading advocate for keeping it going. My wife works there. During the worst part of the pandemic, she was REQUIRED to come to work to conduct teletherapy lessons from her office as no patients were allowed. Of course, teletherapy could easily be performed from home.

Since ICU bed space was an issue when the season was being debated 4 weeks ago, I would like to report that it is now down 60% from peak in the Houston region according to the Chron. We are about 100 beds away from the May 1 - June 15 baseline.

Numbers are going the right direction... keep our fingers crossed the trend continues. I'm still kind of holding my breath the Big XII doesn't somehow decide at the last minute to cancel football for fall 2020. It would be soul-crushing if it does........

Very interesting insight. Thanks, iis.
