CFB Playoffs Announcement

Curious...are you also good with starters who lose their job after an injury.

I just replied elsewhere that FSU's snub isn't even about us. We were either going in with FSU or Bama.

But your logic implies that their fantastic QB was coming back before the game, which he wasn't. If a starter gets injured, comes back, and isn't right yet, they don't start if they aren't the best player. If the "starter" is 100% then you have an argument. But FSU is not 100%. They aren't the same team.

I agree we did not benefit from FSU being jobbed. Alabama did. Prior to the games being played, I figured we needed FSU to lose to get in. So that does sound like we benefited from the decision. But I never thought Alabama would take the spot had FSU lost. I figured we would take that spot. Or Ohio State (nobody talks about them, but they had one loss and did not win their conference). Oregon was out.

We had five Power 5 champions. Three were undefeated (Michigan, Washington, FSU). Two had one loss (Texas, Alabama). We beat Alabama. So it's simple:

Michigan
Washington
FSU
Texas

What happened?

Style points?
Injuries?
Corruption?
Common sense (Alabama is better than an FSU playing a 3rd string QB)?

With 5 Conference champs and only 4 playoff slots one school was always going to be left out
Since Texas wasn't in it I never paid close attention.
Did this come up every year? Or is it that FSU was undefeated and Bama isn't?

First time so many undefeated and 1 loss champs were jockeying for the 4 slots.

Historically, number of losses have mattered because that is how the AP works and every other poll. You lose and you drop.
I think the TCU blowout was the last straw on focusing on this too much, so we can all thank TCU for # of losses not being as big of a factor.
It still does matter as a”datapoint” as Washington is seeded higher than us (undefeated) but we are favorites.
After we boat raced Okie Lite, FSU was out unless they crushed Louisville. College football doesn’t want any team to get a easy National Championship any more.

Georgia was overhyped because of previous years, it turned out they just had an an easy schedule. They should have played OU when they had the chance. Glad they were finally exposed.

You're the first one I have seen saying this, and I agree. Georgia benefitted from an easy schedule, and while they are still a powerful team, they couldn't justify being included when they lost to the only other powerhouse they played all season.

Bama beats Michigan - shuts up OSU too
Georgia beats FSU - shuts them up.
Texas beats UW - shuts up Oregon.

Texas vs Bama for undisputed NC.

There is always someone left out who believes they deserve to be included. Even when it expands next year, there will still be people on the outside crying about this. STFU and play your game. Unless there is cheating about who gets in and it can be proved, play ball.

All the whining by FSU about this is just a tantrum. Anyone who thinks they are still the same team is kidding themselves. This is about entertainment value and FSU is not on the same level without their QB, just like most schools would be. Life isnt fair, deal with it.

We've been screwed back when there was just one game for the Championship (no playoff).

Didn't Baylor's old coach once vote us really, really low in the Top 25 to skew who the top 2 would be?

Dear Senator Scott,

Inflation still raging, the world coming apart at the seams and there is no southern border and you are worried about a college football championship?

Priorities Sir.

yes, but the difference is it's lower level crying cause the #13 team will have at least 2 losses. They should have won one of those two games then they would have been in the top twelve most likely. Like you said STFU and play.
OTOH, when you are in a power 5 conference and win all your regular season games and then win your CCG despite not having your best player and then are still voted out, just because some feel that a one loss team is better, that is strong reason for crying foul. I wouldn't want that to happen to Texas. FSU has a right to be bitter.
Course us Texas fans can just sit back and laugh and say "suck it up cry baby".

I figured what happened to FSU cost Texas 2 national championships in 2008 and 2009. No one raised a ruckus for Texas.

What cost us a championship in 2009 was MB not getting any significant playing time for our backup QB. I think he was to focused on Colt padding his stats for the Heisman.

Well FSU getting robbed might be karma.
I remember when FSU played Notre Dame in the regular season back in the early nineties. Notre Dame beat them by one touchdown (should have been two TDs except for a fluke td in the last minute). It was labeled the game of the century as i recall which is debatable of course. The next week FSU won and Notre Dame lost by a last second fg.
Well Notre Dame was left out of the NCG but FSU got in. Both had 1 loss. Even though Notre Dame beat them head to head they were left out. So FSU now knows the feeling.

Life isnt fair, everyone complaining is just that, complaining. College football cannot endure a large playoff scenario due to the physical nature of football so even when they expand, someone will cry foul.

Well that and having your not very big qb run a zone read keeper on the four yard line which was totally unnecessary.
