Big XII Expansion

Wasn't there something discussed that the Big 10 tv contract is up in the early 2020s, and Texas would perhaps go that direction? Not expand the Big 12 but leave it?

i don't know about turf wars between b12 and b10, but i'd recreate my conference one of two ways...

Steal from B10 and SEC
1Texas
2Texas aTm
3Texas Tech
4TCU
5Nebraska
6Missouri
7Arkansas
8Oklahoma
9Oklahoma State
10KU
11KSU
12BU
13ISU
14Notre Dame
West Virginia is out. It's way too far away.

Or create new Super Conf with Midwest and East Coast from ACC
Texas
Tech
TCU
Baylor
OU
OSU
KU
KSU
ISU
-
WVU
VaTech
Cincy
Pitt
Clemson
Miami
FSU
GaTech
????

8 division games, 1 or 2 other division games, 2 to 3 noncon games, conf champ

What if, and I know this crazy, Big X an XII merge? North and South divisions. No inter conference play, but a title game. High Risk, High Reward. Hell if Bama can make it to final 4 without playing in the title conference game...

Let’s just face facts. A&M knows they screwed up. They want to come back home and make it the way it was before. “There’s no place like home”... three times....
They can wander in the wilderness for 40 years. I'll be gone by then, but i still will not want them in the same conference as us.

You wouldn't know it by their fan base. They just can't figure out why Texas is killing Jimbo "Football Jesus" Fisher in recruiting given the awesome SEC schedule they play combined with the gloriousness of Jimbo's presence in recruits houses. They are just absolutely confused.

Every time you see one of them trying to figure it out, it generally turns into a commercial about the SEC.

Basically something like this.

Why are so many great players going to tu?

If they want to play in the BDF (big dumpster fire) conf. play to 40k stadiums half full in places like Ames, or Lubbock they can go there.

Or they can play in the best conference in America against the best competition in the biggest stadium blah blah blah.

They can never answer the question, all they can do is spout off their cheer leading cheat sheet. That is why Texas will continue to live rent free in their dome.

If I'm putting a new conference together I do something like this.

Texas
Oklahoma
Okie lite
Arkansas
LSU
Kansas
TCU

Notre Dame
Miami
FSU
Clemson
Georgia Tech
Virginia Tech
Virginia

Or

Just join the Big 10

Probably have to add Texas Tech as I doubt if you could get LSU to move. Good basketball and baseball also.

Screw the Big 10 unless you like playing outside in the cold and snow from the first of November through March.

Merge the Big XII and SEC plus two more teams. Divide into four 7 team divisions, play 8 conference games (6 in division 2 from rival division) and three OOC games. Then have division winners play a four team conference championship bracket to determine conference champion.

If Texas makes it to CFP in next 3 years aggies going to explode in cognitive dissonance

Go West or go Independent. The Big 12 was always a short term answer for a long term problem. With Dodds and Boren gone, it's time to pull the plug.

**** the conference game. The Power-5 needs to break free from the NCAA, invite a handful of non-Power-5 schools like ND, and form their own college athletics association with a commissioner, divisions, and relegation rules like the EPL. And one big TV contract. And player stipends. And transfer rules. And bring back the NCAA video game with likenesses. And whether or not players can get jobs on the side. And schools can do whatever the **** they want with their Tier 3 rights (package with their division, make their own network, yield to the organization, etc.). And vow to only play each other for nondivision games instead of Citadel and Little Sisters of the Blind. And if schools threaten to switch divisions or whatever, the commish/leadership would determine how/why instead of university presidents.

We need a more relevant stepping stone from amateurism to quasi-professional. Football is the moneymaker so it should be football. The untold sums of extra money these schools make will undoubtedly improve their financial standing in their other sports. If it hurts schools like SMU or whatever, then SMU can strive to either up their game to eventually join the new college football system or focus on anything else like minor sports, academics, etc.
