Awesome! I think I entered that one too, so great to see its going to a real fan of the team. But be forewarned: they will likely ask you for a W-9, so be sure to find out the taxable value of the package so that 1099-MISC that comes next January doesn't take you by surprise. A client of mine once won an all-expenses paid bus trip to Irving for a Cowboy game with 50 tickets and a meal for everyone on the bus. He took his entire family and friends and they had an absolute blast. But then the following January, the guy received a 1099 in his name alone for $53,000. :(:(:(

Okay, coaches...what's with Texas' rebounding funk the last, two games? By my count, they were only out-rebounded in two other games the entire season. Why now two in a row, and is it a fixable thing? Are they just tired? It's a big concern of mine going into tournament play.

How do you lose the rebounding battle but still win the game by 25?

That rebounding deficiency is still very concerning to me. It seems like teams in recent games are picking on that, as crashing the offensive glass seems to be one of their game plan focal points.
I agree. I think they have decided to crash the offensive glass rather than fall back to play half court D. We haven't shown to be a spectacular fast break team without Rori, but we are a very efficient half court offensive team, so if an opposing coach is playing the percentages, vigorously contesting the rebound shouldn't hurt as bad.

Couple that with OU missing twenty 3 point shots, and BYU missing 9, and there may have been more than the normal number of crazy bounces off the rim.

With all that said, we will need to be on point with our box outs. I am pretty sure Vic will be emphasizing that over the next couple of days.

Edited to make the first paragraph read better.

At times I don't think the positioning has been optimal either. You don't rebound 3's like you rebound 2's. 3's naturally bounce back further so if you're standing right under the basket the defender behind you is going to get the rebound. And sometimes it's just by random weird bounces the ball just goes right to the other team.

It seems like we've been on the receiving end of that and blown teams out, but for some reason luck just doesn't seem to be on our side in the close ones.

I've watched a couple of our post players get beat on the boards due to lack of strength in being able to hold a box out, or a lack of quickness to the ball.

Vic's weekly presser. It was interrupt coach with goofy technical stuff today. "Hey I'm just havin' a press conference over here, its no a big deal".

Even prior to the start of the season, I was really happy when the Big 12 decided to move the women's tournament one week prior to the men's tournament. That makes the timing more in line with the majority of other women's conference tournaments. No with our lack of depth in the back court, we will really benefit from that extra rest prior to the start of the NCAA tourney.

As to trying to win the Big 12 tourney, need to win 3 games in 4 days. Prior to this season, I think it's always been needing to win 3 games in 3 consecutive days. So, this schedule really helps teams short on depth.

Baylor eliminates Texas Tech, 71-60. That completes 4 seasons in Lubbock for Krista Gerlich with zero NCAA tournament appearances; I believe she signed a 5-year contract but there has been no talk about an extension. While I guess Tech could play in the non-NCAA post-season tournament, the A.D. will not do the program any favors if he leavers Gerlich's future in limbo.

As it pertains to the recruitment of Lubbock's Aaliyah Chavez, I'd rather see Gerlich retained as she hasn't been able to win there. On the other hand, she has established a relationship with Aaliyah and her family; a new coaching staff could have to start from ground zero in creating a brand new recruiting relationship. It would not shock me one bit if Gerlich/Tech did something like hire Aaliyah's father in some capacity.

Here in KC for our last Big 12 tournament and, since @Moooooo and and I were discussing possible future venues for the SEC tourney, I'll say that the T-Mobile Center is not a "bad" facility but nothing to write home about either.

Thanks for the in-person support! We really need to get the job done 'cause DD says the #1 seed is back up for grabs again. This season has just been wild.

It may be, but beating Canzez in what is basically a home game for them sure won't be easy. Vic better have them focused, locked and loaded. BS this is always in KC.

Could not agree more. Glad this is the last year for this crap. Anyone who whines that UT runs/controls this conference should honestly look at this fact. If we ran the conference, Canzez & K St would NOT have post season tournament home court advantage EVERY STIINKING YEAR.

Fortunately, for this first game, Ku men play @ uH today at 3 pm. So their fans will be preoccupied watching that. Plus when we play KuWBB at their gym the games are not well-attended. But if Kst gets past Wva, I think they'll have a decent crowd.
