Big 12 Tournament Bracket

Agree with @BabHorn, as I said in the other thread. Creme has almost always been off the Mark with his UT predictions.

I was very impressed by Karen's Gameplan today, her willingness to play Lang and Imani together and stick with it spoke volumes to me

I don't recall how successful Crème has been in the past regarding Texas. Was he off last season with his seeding prediction? Don't remember any debate going on here about it.

I have no issues with Sherri's comments. The story of the game was the Texas defense, and of course, the two Texas scoring runs. All questions seemed relevant to me.

I like Sherri. One of my favorite Big 12 coaches. She's always very gracious. I'm sure she was very frustrated with her team's performance. Man a victory tonight would be sweet. If I'm being honest with myself and take off my burnt-orange glasses I know it's a long shot, but it's certainly possible. To me it comes down to whether they can stop Davis. if she's scores more than 20 points, Texas is in big trouble. 30 and the game is over.

I know Davis is their best player but Johnson in my opinion is the most important player on that team. She also always seems to play well against us. If we limit Johnson I think we have a decent chance of winning, even though it probably is a long shot.

Honestly, with the way we're playing right now and finding ways to win its not that long of a shot. I dont think it's quite 50/50, but 40/60 sounds about right. Lets not forget that we played them to one possession in Austin in that two point loss.

I worry Davis will get Imani and Kelsey into foul trouble. She's unbelievably good and driving the basket. Here's to me being wrong and the Horns pulling the upset. Hook 'em.

Here's what Coale said at the end of her interview, when they asked her what in particular hurt Oklahoma:
"Well, they go 50 percent from three. I don't think they do that every night...when their guards knock down those threes, you've got your hands full, because you've got to kind of roll the dice somewhere." That's Texas whole season in a nutshell. When we couldn't hit the three, we lost, and when we could hit it, we almost always won. You win with guards, as Gary Blair once said, and we haven't had a shake n bake star guard for many years. Good role players, but no 20 point a night stars. If our guards, and I love them, can keep their three point percentage above 35%, we're competitive with almost anybody.

Self correction. When I said "when we couldn't hit the three, we lost..."' I was thinking of that horrible stretch where the wheels came off. I realize we won a lot of games this year when we didn't hit the three. My point is that offense and shooting is our problem, especially against top teams, and just raising our average three point shooting a little would make us way more competitive. Sixty points a game in scoring is a huge obstacle to winning championships. That said, Texas played a wonderful game against Oklahoma, and God bless Rodrigo and Henderson for rising to the occasion. I just don't want it to always be so damn hard.

If you are in DFW tonight, please go to the game. Baylor travels well.

Turn out has been kinda sad. Big 12 needs to do a better job of promoting. Wish they would sell reduced tickets to girls basketball teams (if that is legal!)

I have not been a fan of Mulkey the person (no question she's an incredible coach) but shockingly, this season she seems to have turned a corner in the PR department . She was complimentary of other coaches and teams, she was very respectful when Nneka was unjured and I have yet to hear her blame a loss on the refs. In fact, she seemed to take her losses in stride this year. That's a huge step up for Kim. Here's hoping we give her a loss tonight to be respectful about! :hookem:

The key will be, as in all our games, our guards being able to score from the perimeter, not necessarily from BTA. Remember that neither Imani nor Kelsey will necessarily be on Davis. Most likely, that will fall to Breanna and Ariel and possibly Brady. Breanna really is key here. If she can stay out of foul trouble, she will force Davis to work hard on both ends.

I think we match up well with Baylor, especially the way we have been playing. Another thing to consider, few, if any, people expect us to win. Our players can play free and loose with nothing to lose. The pressure is on Baylor to, loosely paraphrasing Davis, "not be the team that loses the title."

There is a thread on the OU hoops site about this game and a sooner fan posted that the Horns would have run the conference table this year if it hadn't been for the injuries. I agree and absolutely think we would have beaten Baylor twice had things been different. But hey, we've adjusted, won 7 of 8 and made the tourney final. And while we still miss Nneka, we get one more shot at them! Let's go, Horns!

Kelsey has to trust her left hand. She's trying to finish with her right and leads right into Agbuke blocking that without reaching across Kelsey's body. Got to use that right to hold her off.

Three Horns there and no one challenged Davis for that rebound. Have to admit that was a pretty putback but it should not be that easy.

Kelsey's starting off having a tough day finishing inside. That was a big 3 from Brady. Horns have a chance to shave another 2 or 3 of the Baylor lead.
