Big 12 Tournament Bracket

Celina should not have held on to the ball. She had plenty of time to get rid of it to a better FT shooter.

Rodrigo shot 5 free throws all season and missed 3 of them. Why is she in the final minute... And at the line? Because Karen had her in. Of course TCU is going to foul.

Well it all worked out. :hookem:

Re-watching the game where I can stop, rewind, slomo, MAN, there were a ton of missed calls or bad calls in this game.

Why have stats if you are not going to use them? In a game that close, with less than a minute and coming out of a timeout for pete's sake... you would think you would have your best shooters on the floor. You know TCU is going to foul. As a coach you don't have your player who is statistically tied for dead last in free throw shooting on the court. It's not like Rodrigo was having a hot game. Mistakes like that will end your season pretty quickly this time of year.

Ugh! That was too close for comfort! How could we play so well the last game and so sloppy (at least towards the end) on this one? Imani needs more floor time!!!! It's like as soon as she does well she gets pulled. Are they trying to watch her minutes due to injury? Kelsi was leading scorer, but she should have had double what she had. She is letting too many teams with small posts, or even guards, box her out! She looked really timid in this game. It's so frustrating, because she could be awesome! Don't get me wrong, she's had some good moments, but she is one of the biggest posts in Big 12 (Imani the other).....she should be getting more rebounds!!!! Her jumpers are better than her put backs which is crazy as she's SO close to the basket!

Brady's 3's were off big time! What's up with that??? And FT's? Don't get me started! Her defense is on point but let's hit some 3's!!! Looked like she was limping a little here and there. Has she been hurt?

Brooke was off tonight. Don't know if the fouls from the start had her frustrated or if she was nervous in this kind of setting.

Ariel did great for her first Big 12 tourney! She looked a little lost on some plays, but made up for it with hustle! Love that kid!

As aggravating as this team is to watch some times, they have grown in many areas! They CAN do this!!! We gotta TURN it up tomorrow to beat OU!!!!

just finished watching the replay on TWC 318 and now it's starting on TWC 374. Love all the replays, especially when we win. :smile1:

Last I heard, this is what is going on as she continues to recover from that leg operation.

Good takeaways from the game: We won (obviously), we figured out how to not totally squander a 20 pt second half lead, and it pretty much solidified the fact that brooke will have a great game vs OU because she almost never has bad games back to back

utfannforlife, I sure hope that is true about Brooke. That would be great.

This will be the rubber match for the teams as they each won at home. The winner will advance to the finals against either Baylor or Ok. State.

OU’s post Williams has really been playing well in league play. They have a good reserve post in 6-4 Fr. Vionise Pierre-Louis as well as fellow 6-4 freshman McKenna Treece. With 6-2 RS Soph. G Maddie Manning able to play the four, the Sooners are one of the few teams that can match Texas’ height and depth in the post.

Horns will need to hit better from the FT line than they did in the TCU game and have to continue to get good production from their guards to keep OU from collapsing inside.

Donohoe can't worry about leaking out early. She needs to block out Davis and keep her off the boards.

geez, Davis just camps out on the block next to the basket and simply cuts across the lane for a basket when she is forgotten or ignored.

I think we'll see the winner of today's matchup between the Horns and Sooners as a #4 seed. We were a 5 last season, with a tie for 3rd in the conf race, and a semifinal loss to WVU in the Big12 tourney. Entering NCAA play we were 21-11. If we win today we'll be 22-9, and have gone one step further with a tourney final berth. Our current NCAA RPI is 22nd, with the Sooners at 20th, so both sqauds are already on the cusp of being in the mix for a top 4 seed. When you factor in our big wins, inc. vs. current RPI #1 Tennessee, and the fact we avoided any of those sub-100 RPI losses, odds seem pretty good we'd up hosting those early rounds at home. In fact, our worst loss of the year was to current RPI #76. I also think it makes sense to have two Big12 squads as top 4 seeds, given the overall strength of the league (currently ranked #1 in the conference RPI ratings). And if you look at the teams just ahead (ranked 14th-19th) of the Horns in the RPI (and who we'd be competing with for that #4 spot), the SOS range is from 38th all the way down to 108th. None are even close to the Horns in terms of schedule strength. So a lot at stake in today's contest....looking forward to a great game, and a Horn victory!

We need to slow down here. Trying to shoot the ball too fast on break aways. C'mon Horns!!

as poorly as we have shot and as many TOs as we committed, I am surprised OU is only up by 5.

I really like the way the offense is running. We are just missing layups and free throws and our decision making hasn't been very good.

what was that? a 30 footer? wow, what a shot by Ortiz. Tough for the Horns who forced a miss but could not get the rebound.

Looks like both squads will start the second half with 3 players with 2 fouls each. Horns are ahead in almost every stat category, but not a big advantage anywhere. We really need Ariel, Brooke and especially Empress to come to life after the break. Ariel has managed just 2 pts and the other two haven't scored yet. Davenport has been so dynamic lately, we really need to see some of her magic in the second period. Let's go, Horns, you can do this!

Celina has not been shy about taking that open 3 and has delivered on it. OU's Williams with three fouls could be big.
