Beto Does it Again

If the Federal government is willing to send troops in against a state, you more or less see how bad the Federal government is. Or how bad the state is.

This has happened a couple of times in history. Usually the states are right politically but wrong morally because the issues revolved around race/segregation. I think we are in a different time now.

Reasons Beto can win:

1) Roe v Wade. Depends on your position concerning abortion and how the law was interpreted by the majority on SCOTUS. The latter requires you be a person who actually reads things and have an informed view of the Constitution; otherwise, it's either, "Oh No! They banned it" (demagoguery as it was not banned by the federal government) or "Damn Right! Abortion is murder!"
2) Talk of Republicans banning contraceptives; this is the real tricky part. I believe the Christian Zealots (also known as The American Taliban) are nuttier than hell and very scary. I Totalitarian Socialists are scary, the crazy religious cultish types are just as bad in their own way.
3) The GRID though the fact that it held up over this past winter and this summer is a great help to Abbott though I'm not sure he had anything to do with it's success. I'd make sure to throw out numbers that make it appear (or is it actually true) that big wealthy white oil & gas suppliers made a fortune while the rate payers (you and me) are now going to pay those high bills back over the next 20-30 years by a method the utilities call, securitization.
4) Teachers wanting more money and he's telling them what they want to hear.
5) Jan 6 / Trump. If all that makes you feel that that there are white supremacists out there ready to start a civil war and/or get Texas to secede then this one's for you. Also, voting for Abbott means you're voting for the aforementioned Trump but also Cruz, Kavanaugh, DeSantis etc... people that Liberals hate.
6) The stats that might show Texas is abysmal when it comes to health insurance percentages and education (SAT/ACT scores; drop-out rates etc).
7) He's cool. Was in a band. Rides a skateboard. Doesn't look like a scary old white man. Flirts effectively with everyone's wife.
8) He's a Latino. LOL Yeah, that could play.
9) or 1) The virtue signaling psychological phenomenon that makes Liberals out of otherwise moderate whites.
10) The image that Republicans aren't sensitive on COVID issues.
11) Republicans are mean.
12) The GRID didn't fail this year and two years ago was a force majeure or once in a lifetime event (even if that is not true going forward).
13) NRA. Gun control desires.

Reasons Abbott will win:

1) Texas is a Republican state and our leadership also heavily embraces what it means to be a Texan. This turns a lot of people on.
2) Austin is not Texas but those that live here can feel as if Beto is going to win because it's so overwhelmingly Liberal. I feel that phenomenon myself as I live here and it seems Liberals are all over the place; which they are. I have to remind myself that's not the case in the rest of the state.
3) Immigration
4) Jobs jobs jobs
5) Crime. If I'm Abbott I slam Beto on Defund the Police even if he never said it.
6) Liberalism in general. If I'm Abbott I make sure everyone knows who Beto actually aligns with and hammer him on it daily.
7) A solid government balance sheet relative to the Liberal states.
8) He's a white guy trying to make it look like he's Latino, even if he's not really trying to do that.
9) 2nd amendment. NRA.

You might want to include the second amendment in your analysis.

My wife just caught COVID. She's had all three shots. It's a mild case. She had symptoms the night before she tested positive. I've been sleeping/cuddling with her since we were married and guess what? It's a week later and I didn't get it. I've also had three Moderna shots (the last one Nov 2021) but also the following product as I am immunocompromised:

upload_2022-8-22_8-21-15.png

I don't know what it means but something's working for me. It's been seven days since she had her first symptom. She's taking a drug called Invermectim (4 pills 5x days). She's still showing symptoms but it's like a mild cold/allergies. We've been staying apart in our home. So far so good. I tested negative yesterday and am going in for a PCR test today at CVS.

What does it mean? Who knows. Maybe the Evusheld is a very good product.

Monoclonal antibodies are what you're getting. People who first ballyhooed them were quickly shut down by the jab nazis. Same with Ivermectin.

My Oncologist was excited about the Evusheld. It didn't mean that I could crowd surf at a Cardi B concert but it gave me some peace of mind. I'll never have that feeling that I'm covered. But I'm careful. My wife is the weak link. It's tough for her having to remember to distance all the time. She's in sales and has to be around people. I understand the fatigue surrounding the whole mess. She had one big party that made us decide to sleep apart in our home for five days. She never contracted it though.

I feel pretty sure that I will survive and regain full health if I catch it. We know who to call and how to get the invermectin quickly. It was almost a good thing that she caught it because it gave us the rehearsal that I will follow if I get it.

By the way, which drug was it that was so controversial (I think it had something to do with it's primary use was for horses)?

So her Doc prescibed the ivermectin?
Good for the Doc!
Not that long ago People were pleading to get the horse deworner
And Docs were getting fired for even advocating it.

Have your wife use listerine mouthwash to gargle 3x per day. The virus is easily destroyed by alcohol. It will keep the virus count down in her mouth, making her less contagious.

That's Ivermectin. And it's primary use isn't for horses, though it has applications to veterinary medicine. The problem was that people couldn't get Ivermectin to treat Covid, again, thanks to the jab nazis, and so some took it upon themselves to use the horse de-wormer on themselves as a prophylactic. I'm confident those people never would have done that except for being influenced by all the Covid fear porn being promulgated by the jab nazis and media.

Now, those people were clever to get Ivermectin outside of normal channels, but really stupid to think they could properly dose themselves, and that's all the media focused on because the media had their lips firmly attached to the jab nazi's collective *******. So they painted the redneck idiots as victims of Trump, who had advocated Ivermectin (the human doses, not the de-wormer), in yet another attempt to make Trump look as bad and as dumb as possible.

Well this might explain how I’ve been exposed so many times without getting sick. I’ll credit Dr Tito.

Concerning my wife and the ivermectin. It's a little confusing. Her brother caught Covid a couple of weeks ago while on a trip to Massachusetts. He made some calls locally to get medicine and they didn't have anything available apparently (I think). So he came back to Austin early and made more calls and found a way to get the pills. He spoke to some doctor (not his but from Googling about treatment) and Paxlovid and Ivetmectin popped up. He chose the latter. All he had to do was call and answer a few questions. Then they contacted the pharmacy (People's Pharmacy across from Westlake High) and they had it (or mixed it; it may have been a compound). Anyway, I wasn't privy to the conversation but my wife said it was genric Paxlovid. He still has lingering affects (it's been a couple of weeks but I think he's negative; going to check on that). Turns out she heard wrong; it's not the generic version. But by the time she caught it, she called the same doctor and requested Ivermectin and they obliged her with a 5 day supply.

Now I'm reading this:
COVID-19 drugs: Are there any that work?.
From the link:

  • Ivermectin. The drug ivermectin, used to treat or prevent parasites in animals and in humans, isn't a drug used to treat viruses. The FDA hasn't approved use of this drug to treat or prevent COVID-19. Taking large doses of this drug can cause serious harm. Don't use medications intended for animals on yourself to treat or prevent COVID-19.
I don't know what to think except that if I catch it I may request the Paxlovid but I'm going to have an in depth discussion with the doctor about it.

You should take a 10 day course of Paxlovid (normal is 5 days).

I think the Paxlovid would be 2x per day. I'll probably get that if it happens but I'm going on seven days with no Covid even though I was exposed to her and she and I are in the same house all this time.

Be very wary of ANY commercial medical site that gives claims like that about Ivermectin. LOTS of medications have off-label use with great success. The fact that they label something which won the Nobel Prize for its use in humans as "intended for animals" says they have an agenda. Lots of medications ALSO have uses in both humans and animals...I just wish human insulin would work in my cat, although she is prescribed other drugs which CAN be filled at Kroger or any other regular pharmacy since they are the same drugs as can be given to humans.

Even the much-scorned World Health Organization have it on its list of 'essential medications.'

Well, if we can't trust the Mayo Clinic then I don't know what to do. And are the off-label medication success stories anecdotal or backed with trials etc?

There are A LOT of off-label uses that lack trials. And the Mayo site long ago sold out for profit. The reality is that there is no money to be made from studying a cheap and easily available drug like Ivermectin...and that is what these past two years have shown- the sniffles treatments are ALL ABOUT THE MONEY that can be made for Big Pharma.

The media tends to ignore the real-world reports of success with certain treatments. And if they DO give any attention, it is to downplay the cases that might go against an approved narrative.

How many years has Invermectin be given to humans?
How many years has Pavlovid?

I don't know the answer to those questions. I'm assuming Paxlovid is new. How many years has Covid been around? What is the correct treatment? I don't know what those pills do exactly. I have to do a little homework.

Ivermectin was approved for use in humans more than 35 years ago. Which means that its use IN humans goes back further than that. As related to COVID, the key is WHEN it is given to a patient...and the FDA has no vested interest in studying that given, again, how cheap it is per pill.

Paxlovid...Phase I trial was less than two years ago, and is currently EUA by the FDA. Not a magic elixir, though, as evidenced by the concerns with rebound COVID that was shown most recently by QuidProJoe.

I'm wondering if rebound is because they aren't prescribing enough pills or if it's just not strong enough for the job.

But do they do different things in the body? I'm hearing ivermectin is not anti-viral.

I hear Beto uses a concoction that is 80% everclear, 10% glycerin and 10% peroxide.

You rub some in each nostril a couple of times a day and it kills all the covid stuff.

Of course he strangles puppies and roots for OU too, so who knows if this remedy/preventative works.

that was not directed at you. You will do your research and make the best choice for you.
Rather it was that so many in Gov't and media poopooed the use of Invermectin and insulted many very respected people in the medical field. Some lost their jobs for prescribing it for Covid and many pharmacies would not fill it. Invermectin used to be really inexpensive.
So along comes a brand new med Pavlovid. approved last year.
Gee I wonder if it costs more than invermectin?
Think that is the reason?

We're good. Your questions are valid. I remember the political climate and anything that Trump recommended was smashed back into the board. But when it's your life you have to ignore politics and try to get the answer. I assume you're trying to also avoid the politics.

I definitely understand, "Follow the money." My wife even mentioned the Ivermectin was cheaper. She has a high deductible on her plan and was trying to save but unfortunately she got bad info about it being generic. I think she would have gone for the Paxlovid instead. It's a tough call when you have the one shot at it once you contract the damn virus.

We are just regular folks and there is a lot of confusing information out there.

But yeah, old cheap drug bad; new expensive rushed to market drug good. I get the cynicism.

I just want what's best.

Understand your predicament By, and normal to be a bit paranoid. Imo, you got good direction from the doc that got you the script for ivermectin. As I’ve said on here many times. My first battle I was able to get hydroxychloroquine and second time hydroxy and ivermectin. I think they both were crucial to my overcoming the basta** disease. Although I am not immunocompromised I certainly pass the age concern. Very grateful for my ‘rebel’ doctor.
