Beard arrested?

Chin,

If you have never read "The Candy Murder Case", do yourself a favor and get a copy. Percy at his finest and funniest. There was never any doubt who was guilty, the only question was could Percy get them off. Of course, the answer is "YES".

Most of book is trial transcript.
Will do.

4321,

Not dumping on you, but strongly suggest you delve deeper into the "summer camp story". Something had to be done before baseball got the death penalty. ESPN couldn't have created a better whitewash, particularly on short notice. Gus was warned multiple times, and failed to act.

As for Augie, I could give a **** about his drinking. Other problems set me off.

Uh, my fiancée is bat **** crazy?
Thats funny and probably true. Sad thing is after 6 yrs with her, what does that say about him. He is 1 side line explosion away from an aneurism every game but this bonehead play in his personal life has changed his professional situation. Hope he can recover and get past her as in jetison the baggage but who knows if he is capable of that.

Stuff happens. My daughter in law's brother was just dumped by his fiance a week before Christmas. They bought a home together last year and have been dating for several years. Then out of left field it's over. Apparently his fiance was the dumper. We don't know why except to say he was shocked and is despondent over this.

Very sorry to hear that. Dave Ramsey says never buy a house together if you are not married.

I wonder how the Briles-era Baylor administration would be handling this situation?

Chop,

You can't be serious. It's Baylor; Beard is white, woman is white; they would be the new project for the Christian Counseling classes, Media would never have heard about it.

Not unexpected, at all. This will certainly get even more interesting.

As I have opined previously, what is the definition of choking? Plus, did the bites really exist? If they did, were they of a malicious intent, or was it consensual? In other words, who knows about the sexual behavior of other people?

Of course, the girlfriend could have caved under pressure from Beard. Or desperation to hold the relationship — her meal ticket (?) — together. That’s happened only about 10 billion times. We just don’t know.

I wouldn’t want to be in CDC’s shoes. That said, I don’t think it’s in the best interest of the university to immediately reinstate Beard.

Assuming Beard is on board, my thought would be to suspend him for the rest of the season, and then bring him back next year. If the University dismisses him, given his girlfriend’s statement, could that not be construed as wrongful dismissal? Dragging the University through that lawsuit wouldn’t be a good thing.

Technically they could still pursue it, but they will only pursue it if they believe a conviction is likely, so they most likely drop the charges.

This ISN'T a surprising development. The University is presumably doing their own investigation, and will need to decide if the risks of keeping him out weigh the benefits.

If the University is confident that this is an isolated event and he attends whatever classes or counseling then I would think they will keep him.

If the University finds other incidents, or other red flags that indicate this is a pattern then it will be much more difficult for them to retain him.

If no charges are filed I don’t see how they can fire him without lawsuits flying. I guess there could be wording in the contract to fire him either way. But I’m no expert. Any geologists here?

Coach Beard is innocent until proven otherwise. He, through his lawyer, has been consistent from day 1 has proclaimed his innocence. The crazy fiancee has substantially changed critical facts and lost all credibility. She would get shredded to ribbons on the stand. I expect the DA to quietly make this go away.

He choked me and I couldnt breathe...he never choked me. He bit me...he did not harm me. Shes a nutjob, I at least feel confident in that.

:lmao::lmao::lmao:

If he was a bailer coach or student, we would never hear about the incident, all swept under the bear rug.
Anyone else would probably get the death penalty on the word of a liar.
Ex-McLennan DA Reyna and the judges in that county were more criminal than the bad guys in their courtrooms.

The wedding is off then?

Well, this is expected because people in destructive relationships can do things they regret, but don't want to live with the consequences.

So she gets that she's losing her gravy train and that they were both doing weird *** violent S&*@, and he's all hearts and flowers now and talking... getting her to see that she was in the wrong too and let's not ruin this awesome thing we have going.

She might get hammered in court. But changing her story is very common in cases of domestic violence.
