Beard arrested?

Jesus.... Simone Biles is her own thread entirely, and probably West Mall fodder. That whole thing was ridick in its own right.
 
I have to wonder if the University is privy to the private discussions between Beard, his wife and the attorney's involved. Do they believe she is coming clean or that she was coached, meaning "she came to her senses" about the money? If they know she was coached then he's gone even if the case is dropped on the basis of her refusing to testify against her husband.

Somebody in the administration will talk if this is a cover-up.
 
I hope she gets the mental health help she needs, and (speaking as a non-psychologist) it appears she really needs some help. Based on what's publicly available news, he could probably stand to take some anger management classes or something too...

As far as Beard and his fiance go, he made over $5 million last year, and over $4 million for several years at Texas Tech. Even after taxes, he's already set for life at a very comfortable upper middle class lifestyle. Plus, count on a fat severance payment. The humanitarian concern of not throwing them on the streets just isn't there in this case.

If Rodney Terry can take us to the Sweet 16 or better, then the "permanent" job should be his. The question is: can he recruit/portal even close to Beard's level...?
 
I don't know these two from Adam, but abusive relationships (either/or or both) have batshit crazy in them. It doesn't mean that there wasn't abuse. It means that what's normal for them, they know is batshit crazy for others so their stories are often off.

The truth is that they could both be harmful to each other, but not want to face the public consequences of it. And don't really want to change.

I'm not going to minimize this. I'll hope it gets resolved positively for both parties.

I met a batshit crazy couple once during a group trip of 4-5 couples to Cozumel. Things went crazy the first day, after arriving mid-morning from Austin. By 7 am the next day, the couple was kicked out of the resort and dropped off at the airport for the first plane ride back to Austin. The female fiancé/wife/girlfriend (don’t recall) partied all afternoon at a bar/disco with other guys and the male returned to the hotel extremely intoxicated, jumped from the external staircase to a room balcony overlooking the ocean about 5 floors high, walked into the room from the balcony and passed out drunk on a bed naked. Unfortunately it wasn’t his room, but belonged to another family who was out that night. Apparently he jumped onto the balcony figuring it was his room but his room was actually the next one over. When the family returned to their hotel room and found a passed out man naked in their daughter’s bed, the **** hit the fan. I think he was previously reprimanded for smoking in the hotel room too, so he already had one strike against him.

Heard it from the friend who was the trip organizer who felt some responsibility to help the male from going to prison. I met the couple one month before the trip watching 4th of July fireworks at Zilker Park. Everyone said before the trip that they were crazy.

Like I said, Beard literally built this team from the ground up. Terry may be able to coach them but can he recruit the next group to replace these guys with equal or better talent?

Recruiting is important but not as important as great coaching. Shaka was an excellent recruiter but his teams here consistently underperformed.
Beard got the max and then some out of his ttu teams and from everywhere else he coached before his stop in Lubbock.
I think cdc needs to go for the very best.

Meanwhile I’m hoping that somehow Beard will be exonerated.
 
I wonder who has seen or heard the clip Beard says shows he was not the aggressor.
I know his attorney has and I am sure he wants the DA to see it.

A good attorney won't be in a hurry to show his cards to the DA. A good attorney will try convincing the DA that what he has on that tape is far, far more exculpatory than it really is. If he gets a great deal without ever showing the tape, that's a real win.

Thanks. The author of that piece is clearly avoiding the possibility of the fiancé being bat **** crazy. See, you can’t go there in today’s world.

The author assumes Beard hasn’t been fired because UT wants to win. Maybe there is another reason? Like the fiancé is more at fault and Beard’s lawyer will expose UT for firing Beard due to his relationship with a person with a history of mental illness?
