Maybe, but McCain was as big a RINO as there was and had he gone after Obama in that election as much as he went after Trump after Trump was elected and inaugurated, maybe he would have won the presidency.

I’m sure I do not hold any position of respect by you because I did not serve either. My time was in the middle of Vietnam and I can honestly say my dad, a devoted Army officer (WW II) would not hear of me enlisting. Don’t get me wrong my scared a** was not hung ho to join anyway. I got my degree, got married, had a daughter - all the deferments. But I can tell you he was proud of me till he passed.
While I think your personal feelings may be misguided I can understand some of the intangibles against Trump and I respect your opinion. What I cannot wrap my head around is how anyone can believe we, indeed the entire country, would be better off with what is becoming the Democrat Socialist country. I pay what I must in taxes, I do not want to pay any more and I do cherish what freedoms we still have remaining to us.

Just because you didn't serve does not mean you don't deserve respect. I respect everyone until they disrespect me or my brothers and sisters.
I respect your choice and I'm so happy for you I truly am. The people I don't respect are people like Chicago that say that statements made against a former POW are not hurtful to members of the uniformed services.

As for Obama increasing the military budget I'm not concerned. I served during his Presidency and was never without. To be honest we could use some cutting back of the Defense budget. Some of it is ridiculous.

I hate taxes just as much as you do. Do I think we are going to become a Socialist country? not in my lifetime. I truly do not believe that whatever rhetoric I hear from the Right

McCain was a dirtbag and Trump said what a lot of Republicans thought. If you don’t like people saying mean things, you shouldn’t be in politics. You may ask what is over the line? That is highly subjective, for example Dems have called Trump a traitor and a racist.
 
I imagine the discussion went something like this
DNC person1 - We have to choice but to let AOC speak, or her base will go wild
DNC person2 - OK, but just give her a minute, what can she do in that time?

Just a couple of points:

1. I'm not a liberal.
2. I'm not a solider (that shows you how much you know about the military) I am an Airman. But thank you for your opinion of me.

WTH does "decorated veteran mean?" Did you get a good conduct medal, outstanding unit award, etc? I would not pat yourself on the back for that- no matter the awards. Nothing quite as unlikable as a flyboy claiming hero status.

An even that was mostly about tone. He didn't always wear it on his sleeve, but he was a social conservative on most issues.

Will, it doesn't matter if you like the officeholder, you are saluting the office. The POTUS is, by the Constitution, the CINC. I'm long retired from the USAF (retired in 1994), so I'm not very current on the thinking of those currently in uniform. But I do know that POTUS is entitled to a salute. I had zero respect for Bill Ciinton, but I consoled myself by remembering that I was saluting the CINC, not Bill Clinton.

And thank you for serving our country in the USAF.
