All I have so far
While this is great, it means I have to cancel Valentines dinner at a fancy-pants restaurant. Texas softball, you're annoying me with your laziness!

Will we ever get a schedule?
It’s only 21 more days until the season opening game! I can’t imagine he doesn’t have the schedule finalized? Oh well maybe he’s just trying to whip us fans into a frenzy so we will be excited to get the season started! Do all the other SEC teams have their complete schedules out? Gotta look that up.

Update: all other SEC teams have their full schedules out! Ugh. Come on Mike!

Vic Schaefer did the same thing prolonging the women's hoops schedule release. I had pretty much pieced that one all together before it was finally officially released by Texas.

Looks like the weekend of February 28 includes:
South Florida (Feb 28)
Abilene Christian (Feb 28)
New Mexico State (March 1)
Alabama A&M (March 2)
South Florida (March 2)

Since you mention that it makes me wonder if this may be a CDC strategy as opposed to the head Coaches decision??? I’m not sure what their thinking is but CDC is a marketing genius! Ah probably not the case but just a thought.
We have pretty much pieced the schedule together so it will probably be very anticlimactic when it is finally released.

Based on y'alls detective work with the schedule, I typed in all the dates so far and found clashes with:
1. Valentines Day - we'd rather go see a softball game then a fancy steak restaurant
2. Clashes with home WBB game with South Carolina (softball plays away)
3. Slight clash with home WBB LSU game. Going to have to leave the softball game in the 5th inning to head over to Moody

CDC has to step in to give an explanation of why we do not have a published softball schedule! No other team in the NCAA seems to have this problem??

I wonder if, similar to Vic, MW has had trouble getting teams to Austin (or even to host us). Seems we missed on a lot of the big tourneys this year. Maybe just some smoke though.

It's weird bc Connie Clark would have 3 tournaments every year. Usually one other power 5 teams and throw in a couple small schools and it was set. Think this year is tough because we can invite any sec teams like we did in the past.

Marenthia Bell has pieced together the non conference schedule for everyone. May be the best we will get for a while. Only 15 days until the season starts.

How would you rank our pitchers?

1. Kavan
2. Morgan
3. Gutierrez
4. Salmon
5. Simpson
I think Salmon will be swimming upstream being a Freshman. The change from HS to college can be tough. I don't think you can rank her above any of the other pitchers until she proves she can win against tough competition.

Between Morgan and Gutierrez is a toss up.

It is logical to assume that Kavan and Mac will occupy the top two positions. Citlaly will initially hold the third position, but Coach White will provide opportunities for Salmon and Sophia to demonstrate their abilities and competitiveness. I am eager to see Sophia perform well and live up to the expectations that accompanied her to Texas. She will receive her chances. I have been informed that Salmon is a fierce competitor who detests losing or underperforming. Therefore, I would not be surprised if she ultimately assumes the third position. The competition in the SEC is undoubtedly more rigorous, and I foresee opportunities for all five players to vie for playing time.

I was curious about Ohio State hosting a tournament that Texas will be attending. It's always been my understanding that the Northern BIG schools play almost all their games as visiting teams (in the "South") until the frozen tundra of home field warms up.

Looking at the past few years of Ohio State softball, the earliest they've hosted a game at home was March 21st. This year, it'll be March 7th!

Gloves and long johns everyone!

I would say that to be true....however Kavan did quite well as a freshman. When I saw Salmon pitch....I kept thinking of a skinnier version of Kavan. A very intense player.

Yes, and so was Cat, and some others. But there was also the one, don't remember name, that came in highly touted like that. In her 1st start she walked the first 4 batters, was pulled, never pitched again and disappeared. I just don't count on Freshmen until they prove it on the field.

Two of them:

Grace Green: 2019-2020
1 game: NCAA Statistics
3 Runs
5 Walks
Gave up softball after 2020 season was cut off.

Ryleigh White: 2020-2021
5-1: NCAA Statistics
ERA: 3.57
Transferred to Tennessee, where she originally committed to before Mike was hired. Went:
2022: 3-2
2023: 3-0
2024: 0-0

But on the texassports page, it's incomplete (as of this typing). Official web site shows first game as Feb 21. Twitter shows first game Feb 7.

Wow lots of double headers and a few games with ranked opponents. Tech twice, Baylor, Arizona and Stanford. ULL just missed being ranked top 25. Hope everything is on espn and not this Flo sports crap! Games have not been updated with times yet!!

I have ONLY one complaint about our schedule....no trip to Houston...sigh. Everything else about it is great. I'm most excited about the road trips, especially the SEC ones.
