2025 Recruiting - Softball

NB I’m in agreement with your list of hopefuls but I would add Harley Chism, Berkley Zache & Gianna Ioja as possible offers. And this is really based on the interaction of Coach Singleton with them on Twitter. I am really hoping that Hannah Wells and Elsa Morrison were Coach White’s last 2 Hook’em posts and have committed! I noticed that Elsa Morrison has deleted her Twitter account? Strange? Libby Jacques and Kendall Wells have committed to other schools so that leaves 8 names on your list. This may be a 6 person class? Look forward to hearing commitment announcements and soon!
:yippee:

Harley and Berkley for sure!!! Don't know the Ioja player. Would strongly prefer Elsa over Hannah. Both are very elite at the plate with similar bents to pull side with big time power. Hannah just not elite pitcher and not athletic enough to play anywhere else while Elsa can play Catcher, middle and maybe even corner. Athletic kid--not just strong.

Of course they did. So strong is the brand that they just scoop up the top 15 players and use them to overrecruit the previous years' top 15 players already on the roster.

No real silver linings, except the transfer portal means we (others) get their overrecruited players. But then, they pick up transfer players to overrecruit once again! Nothing will change for us until Patti decides she's won enough NCs.

You know, Mike White used to be a hot draw on the recruiting circuit. That seems to have cooled off. Thoughts?

You are soooo right!! Mike use to be one of THE draws of college coaches for recruits. That has seemed to change ALOT. i think his public persona took several hits over the last several years. Kids followed him from Oregon and after that there were some internal issues that got out and then the infamous Bird on the field which wasn't a big deal I would have thought but small action can be blown out of proportion when aired publicly and it had to impact his shine. But this is TEXAS!!!! Sheesh! We should still be able to draw top talent. Not sure if it is an issue with the lack of allure of our coaches or if it is the recruiting strategy sometimes. Not sure which would be a worse problem.

We got a good one here! First of the class!

Caigan is solid, but she is not at the top of the food chain and not elite. Good solid addition but not head turning by any means. Wilson kid a better player but even she is not top of class talent. Honestly not excited with any additions so far. The best of the rest (non-OU commits): Alisa Sneed (Riptide), Mallie West Pitcher (Hots

Opened my IG account and found this on Elsa Morrison’s account. Doesn’t say any thing about a commitment or a visit and the link will not work to the picture. So I took a screenshot. Not sure why it’s accessible on her account but hoping for the best!!!

Crabtree has a lot more potential than you are giving her credit for. She has 5 tool written all over her. Similar to a Lexy Bennett or Leighann Goode. Honestly, I didn't think Goodes stick was as good as it showed last year. So development can still happen post commitment.

Just being objective and basing it on seeing her play several times. She absolutely can get better. 5-tool?? No.

This one was at the top of my wish list! Great Great pick up for Coach White and the Longhorns! He got his pitcher for this cycle!!

Per Extra Innings Softball. SoftballAmerica had her ranked #1 from what I have seen but I do not have a SBA account to confirm.

I am more than confident she
Hit enter prematurely. I am more than confident Wells WILL hit. He ability to hit is one of the biggest draws. She is a high level pitcher but honestly, there are at least 5 other 2025 pure pitchers that are better in the circle, but don't hit like her (other than Bordi). Take her value at the plate away and she falls a few slots back in the pitcher rankings. She is a big grab because she is a great pitcher AND a good hitter with big time pop.

Alisa Sneed on her official! Surprised not a football weekend?

Interesting that she said "2nd official" when we know you can't have two. But, regardless the thing that caught my eye was that she took a picture in what I think is the "new" Electrical Engineering building. I spent almost 3 years inside the old EE building (ENS) and have only once entered the palace that sits on top of demolished-ENS (you need a badge reader to get into many of these buildings now).

This is good because she's definitely targeting a school for their academics and Texas engineering is top notch.

??? This was her second official. She had visited the University of Houston on her first. Recruits can have 5 “official” “paid for” visits per NCAA rule. Possibly you think she is implying this is her second official to Texas?? It could be a little confusing.

Yeah, that's how I must have mis-interpreted. Second official out of five allowed, but first and only official at Texas.

Rules have changed on official visits (at least in football and hoops); a recruit can take more than 5 official visits, and can take more than one official visit to the same school.

Official visits unlimited but I don't think you can have more than at the same school. The rule still applies only 1 per school.

That seems mostly correct. I found this:

RECRUITS CAN NOW TAKE UNLIMITED OFFICIAL VISITS
Beginning July 1, 2023, recruits will no longer have a limit on the number of official visits they can make to NCAA D1 schools. Previously, recruits were only allowed to visit five D1 schools. This means D1 recruits will now have the opportunity to explore more schools before making their commitment decision.

Recruits are, however, still limited to only one official visit per school. The only exception is if there’s a head coaching staff change; only then could an athlete revisit the same D1 school.

In men’s basketball, recruits are still allowed a second official visit to the same school, as long as the second visit isn’t during the same academic year.
