2025 Recruiting - Football

Seems like this would be a good time to go and poach some of the ags' top recruits?

Not sure if the Sooners have much in the way of really good verbal recruits this year, but we might be in the ear of some of their top notch recruits too...?

Here's one to shore up our LB group with some quality through the portal:

We heavily pursued him in high school. Something off-the-field may have resulted in him ending up at Hutchison KS JC (where he excelled--1st Team All-Conference at a JC football factory). He just did his Soph year at Toledo. Sark and PK surely remember him--he came to Sark's pool party--an invite that is very difficult to obtain. Showtime had some of the best film in the class. Was reported as undersized (195 lbs or something) for a LB by the recruiting services, but played at 220 lbs or so his Sr. year at Pearland. Could be something off-the-field going on (why else would he start out at a JC?)....? Whatever it is, he made good enough grades to transfer to a 4 year University (Toledo). If we don't jump, the stupid Buckeyes will probably end up with him (or maybe IU, MSU, Purdue, etc.). Not in the portal yet, to my knowledge, but he should be....... The worst he could do would be a Purdue, IU, MSU, U of I, etc.

Is Michael Terry III slated to end up on O or D? Littleton is a good prospect, but would like a longer, more athletic addition to the DBs.

Really need some top Tackles (both O and D) still

Nahlin at IT said the next de-commitment for Texas is not one to lose sleep over.

247 mentioned he's not a Ffrench, Jr. or Charles type.

247 mentioned Washington is trying hard to flip Mills, especially since they lost an OL commitment to Oregon yesterday.

Mills' grandfather played for Washington and he has ties to the school.

IT's update on Fasusi this morning was pretty gloomy.

They're of the opinion he'll stick with Oklahoma due to his relationship with their OL coach and immediate playing time.

If he does flip, the feeling is it will be to A&M.

Watching Goosby seamlessly fill in for Banks, Jr. on Saturday night apparently didn't help Texas' chances.

IT wrote this morning they're watching Florida with S Zelus Hicks as they're "splashing the pot right now" with several prospects.

A
potential big fish note from IT...

"Sources feel like the staff has a foothold in some hard-to-win recruitments. They are credibly in it for a number of guys who are rated five-stars by at least one service. I still don't know how it's going to play out but I feel more confident than I did in my last recruiting post (6:15 p.m. last night) that they'll land a splash player in addition to Michael Terry and Kellen Wiley, who are both pretty splashy in their own right."

IT on CB Kade Phillips of Fort Bend Hightower...

"Texas really wants Phillips back in this class. To the point LSU is on alert and paying close attention to that recruitment. With the Tigers’ C/O 2025 cratering over the last few weeks, the LSU staff is circling the wagons to keep the Houston area stud in the fold. The Horns aren’t letting up."

And Brandon Baker on the right side (as of right now).

We appear to be in a good position for John Turntine III in 2026.

Ftr, Goosby redshirted last year. Looks like a really smart guy now

Nahlin at IT posted Marshall is in play, and has been in play.

He had a good visit to Texas, and he doesn't think Marshall's commitment to Auburn ever had a solid foundation despite his mother being supportive of it.

He hasn't visited Auburn at all this fall.

Another note...

"I feel good about one flip. A big flip. They're working on a few others but I have one in the mental calculator. Sent myself an email on it."

247 had a quick note on DL Malcolm Simpson of Hitchcock saying Texas is still somehow waiting on a transcript.

They believe we could see an offer extended with the loss of Mbatchou to Florida, and Nebraska losing their DC and DL coach to Florida State today.

By all accounts he's a good kid. He made a business decision and it looks like he is keeping to it.
No sense in calling the kid names.
Stupid business decision. Is that better?

I believe most of us on Hornsfans try to show respects to others including players, coaches and other posters.

Lets do our best to abstain from belittling others through name calling or other bad insinuations....these are people just like each of us who (family or friends) may happen, to read these messages What is to be gained by these needless words??

Sure I will play nice but when I hear a player choosing a school because it’s a “business decision” versus he has a good relationship with a coach or other relatable reasons, I can’t be anything but jaundiced. I suppose I can direct my ire at the system instead of a particular player.

A post from South at 247...

"Just got off the phone with a source. Sounds like there's some good news on the way from a not-totally-unexpected player, but not one we've been projecting to Texas in the last couple weeks. Sorry to be "that guy" and keep the name but I want to honor the wishes and not burn a bridge."
