When I run the 40 they don’t use a stopwatch they use a calendar

Speaking of fast (not fat) guys now, we need 2-3 more DBs in this class of 2025.

Now back to fat dudes, we'll also need 1 more true Freshman DL if he's good enough (we'll need 1-2 or even 3 upperclassmen interior DL transfers through the portal with all the Sr DLs we'll be losing). This year's interior DL is shaping up to be quite good. But we're looking real thin next year in the interior DL without a transfer or two.

For interior DTs in next year's lineup, I really like Bledsoe. Marvin Hills and January will be good too, but they're still real young. Bryant is drawing praise as a hard-nosed strongman in the trenches, but some say he's a 1-dimensional run-stuffer. Sydir Mitchell is indeed a fat dude, a very fat dude (for now at least). We'll need a Jr/Sr/Grad interior DL transfer or two.

Yeah, yeah, I know his name. My humor didn't exactly hit the bullseye there I guess...

Past UT regimes have hit pay dirt converting (or "spinning down") big "tweener" DEs into All-Conference down/interior DTs. Miami destroyed opposing offenses doing this in its hay day. M. Hills is already up over 300 lbs, and he was rather quick even for the lighter weight he played at in high school. Hills, Bledsoe, January--these are guys that could be like Collins, Broughton, maybe even up to the Murphy level by the time they're done here.

And there's also a place for a traditional strongman-in-the-middle anchor type like Bryant. It looks like Norton is playing that role this year.

Although I'd take the big dudes that can really move (a rare find).

FWIW, last night Nahlin of IT said that he expects “five flips.” Was not naming names except for Hilson of FSU, for whom he is putting in an RPM.

He also seemed to suggest that some players, out of our price range (Sark’s call), have been checking in with the program. He added that not surprisingly, Sark has remained in personal contact with some recruits committed elsewhere, assessing whether they are a fit for his culture.

Wasn’t it Mack who once said that when you’re winning you don’t have to recruit as much as select players?

Texas has never been an easier place to sell than right now.

As noted a couple weeks ago.

It had a post the other day on potential flips as the season unfolds.

They put the number around five at the moment, and said the level of surprise ranges from "ho-hum to holy sh**"

This doesn't include the guys like Charles and Sharma who've already made the switch. Kavion Hilson would not be included as a flip

Not all of the names they're hearing have taken official visits to Texas, so that speaks to how delicate/secretive the process can be when trying to flip a blue-chip recruit.

Gerry posted odds on three main targets today:

Javion Hilson – 75%
Michael Terry – 75%
Chase Sims – 80%

Girthy...
I used to be 5'10.5"; 145 lbs (about 5 yrs ago) Enter degenerative disc disease + thyroid issues & now I'm 5'7"; 194 lbs...aka shrinking down & bulking up. I could really plug a hole, but I could only do it once. I also have osteoporosis. By the time they pull everyone off the pile I'd have 4 or 5 bones still intact & spend the rest of the season with the orthopedic surgeon. Ain't aging fun?!?!?

But I would still be able to get my Horns up.
