2024 Volleyball

I `was surprised with the mentioning that Gregory Gymnasium is not owned by the university. The university pays rental for every game. I hate that as Gregory is so unique with its history and atmosphere. But it's small. For sure it would be built somewhere on campus cause no one would tear down The Greg. I don't think.
I'm wondering if he meant that it isn't owned by the Athletics Department. Athletics doesn't own the parking garages so someone else gets the money. Maybe Athletics has to reimburse the University for use of Gregory...same organization, different funding streams. I'd be shocked to find out Gregory was owned by anyone other than UT.

It's the athletics department that doesn't own Gregory Gym. They pay rent to UT Rec Sports. The University "owns' them both.

Texas State
7 pm tonight on LHN
Excited to see the team with the new players

Wouldn’t miss it. My granddaughter has been taking private lessons from Carlson so she and family are now Horns fans. Interesting to see how Elliot uses his two top setters (Swindell and Carlson) as well as new players.

I watched all five sets. Singletary looked good. Carlson looked good….her service and setting was real smooth. Of course Skinner looked great. Ames was nice and the Austin Westlake girl Emerick looked like she belonged. Halter and Swindell good too. Several didn’t play….i was looking forward to Lowenstein playing. The RS from Kentucky looked ok but she’s pretty short compared to Phillips. Wennas looked good too. Look forward to hearing about tonight’s match. Wish it was televised.

Tonight is the last chance to see the '24 team until August. They are playing @ UTSA. No TV but Andrea will likely livestream it again from her IG page. I watched her livestream on Saturday (vs. UH from a high school gym) and she did a really good job, and even threw in a little commentary here and there. UTSA actually advertised this game on social media and sold tickets, so it sold out very fast (everyone wants to see the reigning champs). UTSA's convocation center only holds 4,080. The school's website says the mid-court section is reserved for VIP guests of the teams, so I'm hoping Andrea gets to set her tripod up in the midcourt area this time (she had to stream from behind the team on Saturday).

Can you provide link?

You just go to Andrea's IG page and then at 7pm, the circle with her profile pic will say "Live". Click on that and her feed should open up. On the right-side it will show how many people are watching and you are even able to comment or ask questions. On Saturday, some of the players' out-of-state family members even checked in. I just checked her page and she does say in her stories that she will be livestreaming tonight on the "AESN" which I think is her joke for "Andrea Elliott Sports Network". Here is her page:

I don't have instagram. Can someone share the results of the UTSA match? So far, I haven't found that anywhere.

Texas 3 sets, UTSA 2 sets

Don't know scores without digging further but Texas won sets 1, 2, and 4

I believe the last set was 9-15, but I left early as our passing in that set was making my head hurt. :)
The first three sets were the "A" team. Set 4 was actually the B team on the pins and at libero. Set 5 was not good.

44 minute clip that I passed over due to its length. Happy that I went back and watched.
It gives you a relaxed, unrehearsed version of JE and has a lot of interesting comments and info on a wide range of topics.
1. 60-70 people work under JE
2. Gregory gym will be replaced, its just a matter of where and in what manner.
3. They are discussing a big screen outside of Gregory to broadcast sold out matches- how cool.

What does that mean? Demolition?
IMO...it doesn't mean demolition. Gregory is much more than a volleyball arena. It's the place where many students go to participate in all sorts of athletics. It also has a long history in the center of campus. I'm hoping what is implied is a space somewhere close to campus that they can build a smaller venue for volleyball matches. We'll see...I have no actual insight to what may happen.

Is there a recap of last season's run to our 2nd straight championship broadcasting somewhere?
