2024 Trump Transition

The experts say it was, and perhaps they are right. However, they've lied about so many things during Covid that it's hard to give them the benefit of the doubt anymore. Certainly hard to know what class of people actually benefitted from it as opposed to the natural evolution of Covid into weaker variants.

They weren't too stupid. Pfizer, AstraZeneca, and AstraZeneca made a hell of a lot more money having it pushed on everybody than they would have had it been given only to those at serious risk.
Deaths from COVID clearly correlated with age, obesity, and other risk factors. Also, 40% of COVID deaths were folks who were going to die within 6 months anyway. So, no real risk for that cohort to take the shot anyway.

I know, but do we know the vaccine was the big difference maker even for people in this group? Again, the experts (brought to you by Pfizer, Moderna, and AstraZeneca) would say so, but they'd say it made a big difference for everybody.

Yes, I think a significant reduction in hospitalization was recorded for at risk groups. They never fully promoted this because it undercut their argument that everyone should be vaccinated when the data clearly suggested it didn’t.

The administration was vastly afraid that by giving healthy folks an exception then older “at risk” folks would not take the vaccine. So as a result they pushed the vaccine on everyone. It was always my contention that a more honest and targeted approach would have been more effective. Dems clearly have a low opinion about the American people.

In 2017, the Burger King at Ramstein Air Base burned down (because somebody trying to burn weeds with a weed torch accidentally set fire to the building). When we moved in 2020, it still hadn't been rebuilt. I think they now have a Five Guys in that location, built in '22. It took 5 friggin years.

The guy in charge of building the pentagon was awarded to manage the Manhattan project: General Leslie.

It's sad. Our government used to be capable of doing some big things well like major military operations, huge construction and public works projects, the Apollo project, etc. Now they do damn near nothing well except piss money away. Everything they attempt to do is so overloaded with bureaucracy, corrupt rent-seeking, and other little scams that it all takes forever, costs obscene amounts of money, and usually produces mediocrity.

Totally agree, and have been saying for the last few years it's a sign of the downfall of this empire, just like Egypt, Rome, etc. fell unless something changes drastically and quickly. Trump may be the driver of that change. We know he's gonna try.

Of course this BS:

I think it was a big moment. It's when the public health establishment outted itself as a political institution rather than a scientific one. When you start telling people that viruses respond depending on your political beliefs, people are going to question your motives.

It also showed how brain dead their judgment was. Nobody in that institution thought to say, "folks, this is going hurt our credibility with everybody who isn't a staunch leftist."

Seems to me the change was when they switched the goal from successful and complete finishes to worrying about what people thought.

Seems to me the change was when they switched the goal from successful and complete finishes to worrying about what people thought.

And worrying about what the wrong people thought - meaning special interests. Here's an example. When we fly to the US on our own dime, I usually pay between $600 and $1,000 per ticket. Every two years, we fly home on government orders - meaning you all pay for it. They end up paying 2 - 3x that. Why?

The government is the biggest purchaser of airline tickets in the world. They should be paying less than what I pay when I fly on my own dime, so why the difference? The airline industry has lobbyists - that's why. The contract requires that we have tickets that are fully refundable and changeable for no extra cost all the way up to departure.

Sounds like we're getting something for the added cost. And superficially we are, but is that really the best strategy? The overwhelming majority of the time, tickets aren't changed. Furthermore, all tickets can be changed if you pay the fee and fare difference. The taxpayer would be far better off just paying the fee and fare difference for those situations than mindlessly forking out 2 or 3 times the cost.

Put Musk's team on it to find out who sent these threats

Read if you want a good laugh. He thinks Trump’s picks are anti-meritocracy. US is headed downward and this guy wants more of the same? Delusional.
