2024 MCWS

Capp was a guest lecturer at Texas in the late 60s. He was from New England & was Jewish. I always thought Li'l Abner was from the Ozarks, but he said "Dogpatch" was set in backwoods Kentucky. Having never been to Kentucky at that time, I couldn't imagine anything more backwoods than our family in Arkansas.

Hard to say with any precision or certainty*. I think that Dogpatch was located somewhere in the Ozarks. FWIW, there was a Dogpatch USA theme park located in Arkansas. (1968 to 1993).

I don’t rightly know.

I went to Dogpatch USA when I was probably about 9-10 years old. My dad wanted some Coors (it wasn't sold East of the Mississippi back then) and this was a convenient reason to take this trip. I was sitting in the back seat of my dads topless Jeep Renegade CJ5 with my feet on a couple cases of coors all the way home.

Dogpatch seemed really cool, but as an adult what I remember about it was pretty cheesy. I also remember it being really beautiful over there. There was a catfish pond where you could pay to fish. It had so many fish you would drop the hook in and catch one immediately then a guy would come unhook it and throw it back in. I can't imagine how many times they were hooked every day. The cast was out and about in force. The best part was while my dad was drinking his coors back at the motel, I would hang by the pool and eat McDonald's which was a huge treat in the 70's. Gen X at its best.

Edit: Just watched a video that said the Bass Pro Shops owner bought it and is revitalizing it. Seems like he wants to make it more of a nature park than a theme park. Also, the fish pond I mentioned was a trout pond. This is pretty cool.

aggy just completed T5th, Vols leading 3-1 and looking solid. Vols pitcher is in command!

It is far from over, but aggy down to 4 innings and 12 outs.

Not liking the feeling of this game. Feels like the Aggies are getting closer to pouncing and Tennessee pitching is nearing the bottom of the barrel. Hope I'm wrong.

Bad news for the Ags. They are "running out of time..."

I can hear them all now- "if it wasn't for all of our injuries, we would have run-ruled every damn game in Omaha!"

Yup LHAB, you can hear it after the game:

"Dadgum, our boys jest ran outta innings"
…”Yeah, they were afraid of us. Why, we even offered them to go a few more innings with us, and they wouldn’t do it because they knew they were lucky to be ahead just at that point—the way they were laughing at us when we said that, it just proved they knew we were better, and they had won by luck by getting ahead in the score.”
