Apparently Trump’s lead is nearly 2% pt lead if you ignore the rounding up they did for Harris.
So the guy who's winning is a convicted felon and has a sexual abuse judgment against him.
He routinely says ridiculous things, and his supporters launched a riot at the Capitol. Of course, the political class looks at that and talks about how terrible Republican voters must be to choose him over Harris.
The much better question is how bad Democrats must be for voters to choose Trump over Harris. With all those liabilities, people still prefer him to Democratic freak show.

No one believes Trump got fair trials. And it looks increasingly likely Trump lost in 2020 due to dem underhandedness. Of course no dem is going to publicly acknowledge that.
The biggest reason is that a huge swath of people find socialism acceptable.
The biggest myth out there is that Haley and DeSantis would have won the presidency easily. Neither one can win the purple Rust Belt states.
