2024 Football Schedule

I like there are 2 bye weeks sandwiched like they are.

Plus there are 2 weeks to prepare for ou.... its payback time for that fluke last second win those ******** got in '23.
Secondary looks much better this year. Mukumba is a stud. Simmons is really coming on too. We're not losing to OU this year. Not going to happen.

Agree
Simmons is a force. I really believe he is a future first round draft pick. He is always around the ball.

So I don’t have ESPN, but for some reason I have ESPN+. Can I watch the UT ULM game that way tomorrow?

So when looking at the remaining schedule last week, I thought we had it pretty good not having to play Alabama, or Tennessee, or Mizzou.

So what happened today? Alabama lost at Vandy, Tennessee lost at Arkansas, and Mizzou got blown out at A&M.

We play Vandy at Vandy, Arkansas at Arkansas, and A&M at A&M. (And last week Kentucky beat Ole Miss on the road, and Kentucky will be on the road in Austin.)

What a difference a week makes. I’m still confident we’ll win these four games, but it’s funny how sometimes your preconceived notions just get knocked for a loop.

Nah, the SEC is over-hyped. It's a top heavy conference really with only one or two good teams with the rest being average. It'll be a cake walk...or so I've heard on this board for 20 years.

Yes, what a wake up call!
We have to bring our A-game every week.

Very happy to say that my Great Nephew has just accepted his admission to the McCombs School Honors Program. My brother (his Granddad & HUGE tcehie) was a total ******* at his family announcement. Tcehsters are famous for being obnoxious & my brother was true to form when his Grandson announced that he is headed to UT.
He will be only the 2nd member of my family to go to UT. He overcame tremendous pressure to follow the family tradition of going to Tceh. I faced similar pressure when I told family that I was headed to Austin. I am VERY proud of him.
Hook 'Em Connor & Hook 'Em Horns.
Leaving the Panhandle and not attending Tech was an astute decision. Even though I was born and raised in Lubbock there’s been no reason to visit my childhood friends..they despise me… simply because I attended UT.

I get it.

At church yesterday I was briefly talking football to an older than me gentleman. I knew he attended Tech and he had family that graduated from Tech. He asked me "who is your team", I paused, thinking he is not gonna like what I tell him.... so, I told him and there was a noticeable difference in him toward me after that... I guess I should not have been surprised.

Since I grew up near lubbock, I can attest to them being the worst fans in the entire world. Its so crazy how rabid and ignorant they are.

So this thread is about the 2024 football schedule. But looking ahead to next year …

The 2025 conference schedule isn’t set yet in terms of who we play on which dates, but the opponents are the same seven conference opponents we play this year (plus OU), with home vs. away being reversed.

I think that stinks. It means we go two years without playing seven conference teams in the regular season. Yes, we’ll see them for two consecutive years in 2026 and 2027, home and away, but I wish they would’ve chosen to have everybody play everybody else in the conference every two years instead.

Oh well … Just my two cents when pondering the vacuum that is a bye week.

Pretty much the same way it was when the Big XII first started up. A four-year player gets to play every other team in the conference at least twice - one at home, one on the road. Worked reasonably well then (of course, the Big XII did have Divisions at that time).
