2024/25 Portal Transfers

OU, in particular, is getting bludgeoned. There are some weeks left before the early window closes. However, the departures are significant.
Finkley and Guillette were doing pretty well. They just got beat out by better talent. They'll likely do well somewhere else.

Bledsoe will make somebody's day. Hopefully nobody we play.

Wow, a team captain leaving? Guess it may just be me but that seems a bit shocking. Well I guess no more shocking than were Quinn to leave next year.

Its expected 10-12 before Spring. We're at 7 currently. 2-5 after the Spring game. No mass exodus.
Not including those 7, we still have logjams at several positions, including some where portallers from other campuses will probably end up in Austin.
OL
DB
Edge
WR
I'm guessing we'll get some serious outside interest from all of these positions, yet we already have 49 scholarships tied up by these 4 units. I think we're losing 2-3 more DBs, 2-3 more OL, and 1-2 from the WRs and DEs.

Beyond that, we'll probably have newcomers arrive for the spring or summer that will force out guys who potentially would have earned a lot of playing time. TE and LB would probably be the culprits here. I wouldn't even put it past our 2 remaining DTs to also bolt if we get some great portal guys.

I think the only positions that we "know" will have enough returning help would be QB, RB, and K/P

Sounds like we dodged a bullet
My thoughts exactly. Not sure how different other NIL deals are, but this is a pure mercenary approach.

Once again - aggy showing the way of how to not build a program, even though Tickle Me says this is
a “real program”.

Reminiscent of Jimbo’s famous class antics?

If accurate- that's a pretty big haul for a 19yo to play at collie station.

$700k up front for one year and he never has to play a down because he has a medical clause that he dictates. Not to mention cars for the family, travel and expenses for 10 people per game and a personal chauffer?

I'd say only aggy would agree to this type of deal after Jumbo took them for a ride, but hey I guess not.

Assuming Hudson's NIL deal is accurate, imagine the resentment he will stir up on the team with that arrangement. I thought family members were forbidden in receiving NIL benefits. I just can't believe this is accurate. Elko was going to change the culture and if he approved this, his feeble attempt to change the culture just got flushed down the toilet.

for 700k he could provide much of that.....

NIL as we all know is not good for kids, schools, teams of the sports it applies to...cant keep going like this, it must be changed for the betterment of all players!

Swanson’s version that he was “kicked out” is probably way out of context with what he was really told in his yearly evaluation. “Son you can be good with a lot more work” would be more correct to my thinking.

As for Lake Belton’s , ex-tech now ag wr Hudson. That kid could not even start for tech. Let that sink in.
Only dumba$$ aggies would ever do that crazy a$$ NIL deal, if true. It sounds totally unbelievable But again, they are the same idiots that will be playing jimbo millions for life. Kinda like winning the lotto without paying the two dollars for the ticket. Only ags, gotta live with them and just laugh at their daily stupidity.

Well here we go again.

My knee-jerk reaction is that we have a very immature kid here. But then again, who knows? It is possible that he is being influenced by an agent looking for a payday. I’ve known adults three times his age that have never been able to make a decision and who have second guessed every choice that they ever made.

Having said all that, it’s probably time to say sayonara. What a waste.

I agree. Do not believe Texas told Swanson that. But that is how he heard it. That is too bad.
That’s just what I was thinking. Unless the staff behaved completely out of character – what he was told and what he heard — probably differs.

His comments could be motivation for his teammates if they play us. On the other hand, it could also be motivation for Texas and the D staff, not appreciating what was said about them.

If the Hudson thing is accurate I’ll give them props that all the cars appear to be for family members and he will have a driver with a Cadillac Escalade.

I’ve often said these athletes with so much money shouldn’t be behind the wheel of a car. I just pray we don’t see one of our player’s Lambo or Maserati wrapped around a tree at 2am.

Maserati won't run fast enough or long enough to wrap around a twig much less a tree.
