2023 Volleyball

Both at different times. But I think Devin was on the court when Madi came back on when Texas was down in the 4th and Jenna went out instead of Devin. At that point the match turned around and Texas took control for the match.

When Madi or Molly came back in? Sorry for the questions. I didn't watch much of the match. Devin played right side and Jenna was outside, left pin, no?

Man I feel pretty stupid right now. Got my tickets, thanks all, it worked this time but have spent a ridiculous amount of time trying to prepay for Speedway parking. I am certain I was able to do it last year but when I find the site it won’t open for tonight. I’ll just drive in and pay on exit I reckon. Come on ladies! Hookem!

Molly was subbed out for Devin and yes they both played right side. Jenna continued to play OH from the left in the front row the entire night. She gets subbed out in the back row for Akana.

I think that they switched the rotation of the back court slightly. Molly used to rotate with Akana. Against Rice, Eliot changed it so that Clarissa Barnes rotates in and out for either Mollie or Devan, whoever is playing that particular rotation spot. Eliot explained why in the pre-game foundation chat but my old mind has already forgotten the technical reason. I think it has to do with either Akana's or Barnes' setting strength.

At the Speedway Garage, you pay $10 on entering; the exits are open after the game.

Thought I could do this during the match...I miss too much....I think it's on longhorn network if you can get it.

Set 1 in the bag... What a comeback. Eliot with a yellow card. Couldn't hear what it was but it wasn't pretty. Refs called a couple different things... Then gave the point to wsu

So frigging disappointing.

What a letdown in what felt like a totally winnable match. On the one hand, I’m glad that we didn’t get stomped. But it just seemed like we really could’ve won this.

Meanwhile, Nebraska is starting three or four freshmen and looks like the team to beat this year. Ughhh.

Ok so I am just a fan not very volleyball knowledgeable and have only seen a handful of games but I did recognize excellence early in last years team. What my uneducated mind says about this match was / we blew it. These girls, while I may love them, remind me of our recent football teams, they lack a killer instinct,ie, cannot put a team away. No lack of talent excuse for them to lose three straight particularly having Wash on the ropes like they did. Good heavens up by 7 points and in a roll? Way too big a let down to not be explainable by a more knowledgeable fan of the game. Elliot should be able to get them past this phase. Too soft on hits and way too many mental errors. Home field is too dynamic in this sport to drop three in a row like that. Wash St might be better than I give them credit for and they are good but they’re not that good. Oh well, regroup and Hookem ladies.

Free balls and sets so high it allows the other team to park their tanks in perfect position for the return. That's not a recipe for victory. The quick sets, especially to Bergmark, worked every time so lets not keep doing it.

And what's wrong with Asia? Lat year she was one of the best servers on the team and last night 4/9 SE's were on her.

We really need to clean up our serve receive and our passing. It just looks sloppy far too often.

Anyone here (especially regulars) who cannot afford $10/month? This site is well managed and runs smoothly. That does not just happen magically.

It's been a tough non-conference season. Very unusual for us. But we haven't come close to playing the type of ball we have come accustomed to playing. This team will get better. No matter what....I'm all in.:bevo:

My statement still stands. We are a better blocking and digging team than we were last year. Our offense has took a tremendous drop from last year. It is our defense that is keeping us in matches. We are currently #1 in the nation in blocks per set!
Also I know many are not a fan of Wenaas but she gets the job done. She isn’t gonna slam it on the court and she’s not going to wow everyone in the audience with how hard she hits but she gets the job done. Wenaas is hitting .229% for the season and she’s hit over .300 her last two matches against OU with a triple block. Skinner is hitting .240% for the season. Kahahawai is hitting .203%. Yes Kahahawai hits hard but she gets dug easily and a lot. I would rather Wenaas be on the court. Phillips is struggling but it looks like her and Swindle are finally connecting. Although Molly is hitting .137% for the year she hit .429% and .300% in her last two matches. And in case you’re not sure about hitters. A good outside hitter usually hits about .250%.

Wenaas hitting percentages her last 6 matches .300, .370, .114, .235, .040, and .545.

Skinner hitting percentages her last 6 matches
.300, .375, .211, .380, .417, .278.

Swindle’s connection is still getting there. Have faith!

Yep. Some of the growth in communication must come from all our hitters, but it falls primarily on the shoulders of our freshman setter. We should continue to get better offensively as the season rolls on.

I really hope no matter how this season goes that Emma Halter is recognized for all she does to keep our back row together. She just seems to have such a positive spirit about her. I personally was so dissapointed she wasn't included on all tourney team at the Final Four last year.
