We need Mitchell and Hunter to come back too. Then Abmas. That would be a good team. Elite 8? Probably not but that's ok. Our depth would still be razor thin, but it would be a good year. A Texas year and not a really, "we're doomed" year.

Shedrick, & Disu give RT a lot of options offensively. If he can find a couple of guards—especially a big one who could play a little forward as well—that would be huge.
Mitchell coming back is critical and Cunningham coming back is special.

Brock is going to be a great coach one day.

Hopefully, Shedrick and Disu are the turning point in recruiting right now. Hunter needs to come back also. Nevertheless, with the two big men and Holland, I think it makes it more likely that Terry can reel in Abams. If Mitchell and Hunter both return and Abams signs, that is a thin but good core of players. Will need another wing and a big guard. Maybe Alex Anamakwe can contribute off the bench. I don't know much about him though. We know Cunningham will do Cunningham things off the bench.

Is Cole Bott on scholarship? I thought he was, but since no one mentions his name apparently not. I know Perryman and Parker aren't.

I was excited for the Anamekwe flip from SMU/Tech because I live in the McKinney area and he was the frequent subject of "look what this guy did to DeSoto or Richardson" or whoever. His AAU film makes him seem a lot like Andre Emmett (RIP). He's strong and plays way above his size. The closest superstar for Texas to his size and ability is probably PJ Tucker. I was a little surprised he didn't get much playing time in 2022-23, but upon further review, I think it's because that position was manned by Timmy Allen.

Mylik Wilson (SG -- Redshirt SR):
:uh:

Here's a decent enough SG to pursue for a 1 year term. He's not "heavily coveted", but is a competent Guard on the basketball court. He won't make anybody's All-American list (or All-Conference list), but he could fit in here, and get plenty of minutes on the court, right away. He may have some commitment issues. He's bounced around from La.-Lafayette (2 years, where he did ok), Texas Tech (1 year, underutilized), and UH (1 year, where he redshirted).

In 2022, he was underutilized at Tech, playing only around 15 minutes per game. The year before, he scored 12.9 PPG with 33.7 min/game. 2 years ago, he posted a 35.8% at 3 point shooting, but that % dropped the last 2 years. We need help at G. This guy looks decent enough. Worst case scenario is he'll end up a role player and provided competent depth. 247 had him as the #2 SG in Louisiana as a recruit. If he doesn't pan out, we're only stuck with him for 1 year. Not our first (or second or third) choice, but he should get a look. We need some guards now.

Malik’s defense is stellar! STELLAR! Great kid.

Looks like it's Abmas or bust, big bust, with what's left uncommitted. But one positive is this is showing Perry 97% to ksu. If that happens certainly it would eliminate ksu for Abmas.

Don't know anything about Armstrong, but haven't heard anything about any mutual interest either. I know this list doesn't mean everything, but I doubt someone ranked below 50 is going to be a difference maker either.

still nothing on Abmas, I am very concerned.
Just have to take a wait and see attitude. I thought Shedrick was in the wind earlier, but he committed. I would think Abams is and should do his due diligence. Hunter and Mitchell returning are equally important.

We're not a deep team with the following roster, but we're still not the worst team.

G
Hunter
Abmas

F
Disu
Holland
Shedrick
Mitchell
Cunningham
Anamekwe

Conceivably, we wouldn't even need to take another forward, although I'd like a banger who can be the guy who picks up boards and fouls.

The issue is obviously at guard. Even if Holland is the second coming (he might be the closest thing we've had to it since Durant), we'd still need some guards to distribute the ball. In the 2007 season, the big criticism was that we couldn't get Durant the ball when things broke down. We've gotta pick up at least two guards who can pass.

Hamilton at IT said that Abmas had a relationship with the K St staff. Said probably 50/50 between k st and Texas. Other schools in play, but will probably come down to those two.
Sooo, we went from 100% to 50%,
Does not look good for us.

Kinda makes it hard to run a 3 guard set or defend one.
