Nice to get the series W on the road in Pittsburg. It will be a bit tougher in Baltimore this weekend. I'm guessing one W in the 3 games with the O's; if the Rangers can get 2 wins, it would be an outstanding road trip.
And I don't doubt the Astros for a second - they are coming on strong, and they're still the favorite for the AL West. If the Rangers an keep it going and get a Wild Card slot, that would be an outstanding season (and would exceed most reasonable expectations).
The Rangers have shown the ability to bounce back from a losing streak (the three games to the Reds, for example). If they can avoid a prolonges losing streak and continue winning each series, they will continue to lead the AL West - and I'm willing to bet they can still be leading at the All-Star break.
The bullpen is pretty much Will Smith and a whole lot of praying. The Rangers are winning by scoring a crapload of runs relying on their strong starting rotation and then just hoping to get to Smith. I am not sure that is sustainable. If the Rangers can get just a solid bullpen they have real shot at 90 plus wins which isnt something I remotely imagined would be possible just 60 days ago.
Tough loss today but two straight series wins make Texas 4-2 on this nine game road trip and that is a great position to be in heading into the weakest of the three teams the Rangers will face on this trip.
Ho- humm... Rangers win - pound Tiggers, again 10-6!!!
Perez was off tonight - pitched about 5 innings and gave up some runs. Anderson pitched damn good in relief. Bunch of strikeouts held the lead at the time. Has a wicked throwing motion.
All the starters are contributing at bats lately.... especially Josh Jung who had a huge game tonight!
Bochy doing terrific job so far!
35-19 on the season and still in 1st place in the West!
Fellow Ranger fanatics, I haven't had a chance to get out to Globe Life yet this year but I will be at the game next Wednesday against the Cardinals. If anyone else is heading to that one PM me and perhaps we can put faces to screen names.
Best 55 game start in team history. Let that one sink in for a minute. This morning on the ticket they were going over some just incredible stats including the fact that the starting rotation has record of 26-9, best in the majors and that is with the DeGrom injury. The starters are averaging almost six innings a game and the stats on offense are even more fantastic. Imagine if the Rangers had just a solid bullpen.
We are almost a third of the way into the season and this dream start just keeps on going. All I can say is don't wake me up.
