2023 Texas Rangers

Swept the lowly Royals to get to a division best 12-6 and the Rangers start a series with a not good Oakland team but I am holding my breath to see if DeGrom starts tomorrow and if he does how long he goes. This will be a season long hold your breath kind of deal with him.

ESPN is showing deGroom on Sunday. That would be great since I will be there.

Some observations from attending today's game v. The A's:
  • The seats at Global Life are not made for use in cold weather. Since it was a 15 minute walk in 48 degree and rain from parking and the gate, winter coats were necessary. Only place for them during the game was sitting on them or holding them in your lap.
  • Unlike most high priced often injured pitchers the Rangers sign, DeGrom might actually be as good or better than advertised.

DeGrom dominated today.

Kicked A's *** 18-6 Sat. 5-2 today.

14-6 leader in the division.

Hi Astros!!

The Rangers have just walked four batters in the 8th inning against the Reds, allowing them to tie the game up.

Bottom of the 9th. Four pitch walk. Check the ump's strike zone according to ESPN:

I wasn't there and didn't see it on TV, but I'm thinking that strike-zone was the result of some chirping coming from the Rangers' dug-out. That's the way baseball go.

Bad strike-zone, ***** about it, strike-zone becomes even worse.

Rangers doing Rangery things the last two nights in blowing leads. Hopefully Bochy can get their heads rights and keep this awesome start to the year going.

Just played nine games against lesser opponents - Royals, A's, Reds, clearly not the cream of the crop. 7-2 would have been a pretty good outcome for those nine games - instead they go 5-4. And now they get a four-game series against the Yankees - really need to right the ship quickly.

Nice finish today to get 3 out of 4 against the Yankees. DeGrom is on IL for 15 days so lets see if Rangers can hang on til he gets back, He was always going to spend some time on the IL its just a question of how much.

Yup, very nice win today!!!

Sorry, I have been AWOL on Rangers lately but they are kicking serious *** !!!

Senior Management has brought together a pedigreed Manager Bouchy -and key players for a serious run to win American League West and beyond!!!

WorsterMan, I like your thinking - but it is probably a bit premature to start printing World Series tickets. Let's see how it looks in August.
BTW - isn't it about time for another Hornfans tailgate at Tolbert's?

Tues. Rangers rally to beat AZ 6 - 4. Bullpen held the lead!!!

Record goes to division leading 18-11. Astros lost today.

A great victory, but Gray's early innings performance left a lot to be desired. The longer DeGrom is out the more the other three starters have to be on their game, as the BP is not consistent.

Hi Astros!!
Just remember...there is always a wilting of Rangers when it warms up...call it the revenge of David Clyde would be unfair though...the franchise generally sucked even before they ruined his career.

If you had told me that 30 games into the season, a not insignificant sample size, that the Rangers would be 18-12, I would have been far more than just pleasantly surprised. But that 18-12 has shown signs, particularly with the struggles in the bullpen of being a somewhat illusory showing of what will likely happen over the full season. I have so many years of Ranger induced trauma that I see the glass as half empty even in the midst of the best start since the mid 2010's and the best Ranger team since their back to back division winners in the mid 2010's. If DeGrom comes back healthy and stays healthy, if the bullpen can figure it out and if the hits keep coming for a surprisingly stout lineup, a lot of ifs to have this fantastic start continue through May and into the summer.

Yup FW. Ace DeGrom healthy, back in the lineup and dominating over the course of the season and the bullpen coming together while holding leads, this team could equal or exceed 2010 - 2011 teams....

First game in Anaheim results in yet another bullpen meltdown. With a 4-1 lead going to the bottom on the ninth, Angels tie it up and win it in the bottom of the tenth. Not a good start to the AL West road trip. Hope the Rangers are looking for ways to bolster the bullpen. If the team had won half of the blown saves so far, they would be well ahead in the AL West.

Serious redemption Sat. evening!!

Eovaldi dominated!!

Rangers 10
Angles 1

Should have been a shutout!
