2023 Recruiting - Football

For whatever reason, its been a tough sell to get difference makers at LB at Texas. DJ was the last true difference maker I recall. I hate to harp on it but Mack had it right in the 2000's. Speed, speed, speed. We havent seen it in a while. Overshawn is a converted saftey who has over achieved and its been a blessing for Texas. PK is still a liability in my view as I dont know if the changes saturday were GP or PK? PK is also the LB coach and I presume the LB recruiter. If Akana is a difference maker then I am all for it but PK vs Venables, we will lose far more of those battles than anyone would like to admit! PS: ou still suks!

247 reporting TE Duce Robinson isn't expected in town today because a weather delay moved his high school's game to today.

OrangeBloods saying the parents of TE Duce Robinson still made the trip to Austin over the weekend.

There were multiple sources stating Vasek was on the sideline on Saturday.
Vasek confirmed with OU 247 that he was in Austin for a visit.

Venables is supposed to have a no-visit policy, so we'll see if anything changes in the next few weeks.

I am intrigued to see how Venables does over the next few years.

The team showed up Saturday. The coaches showed up Saturday. The fans showed up on Saturday.

I was honestly scared to bring in so many recruits. TEXAS did not disappoint these recruits.

I was just wondering when you were going to crap all over PK again.
After last seasons performance, 1 game doesnt change anything. As I said before, if we are not hanging at the bottom of 130+ teams on defense like did last year then kudos to him. Defense played a great game saturday. Was it PK or GP, who knows but they kept us in the game for sure.

Well, mostly never. But when App State was punking Jimbo's boys, the fans all tucked tail and ran pretty early.
Since I was at the game, I can confirm this statement about fans leaving is false. My best friend played at ASU so I was at the game with him and 2 aggies. My buddy and I were definitely the only happy people in the stands that day. Another false post by you know who. Perhaps he is like the announcer at atm that said 92k were there. There were an awful lot of empty seats throughout the stadium. Nothing better than an aggie melt down.

Watching on tv, as soon as the kicker’s foot hit behind the ball and the divot went further than the ball (not really on the divot distance), a good number of aggy, we always stay til the end, couldn’t get out of the tackle box fast enough.

Manning after Akana

I tend to disagree. What we saw Saturday was no fluke. We basically shut down the #1 team in the country, lead by a returning Heisman QB. Except for one play, they were inept on the ground, and one dimensional. And frankly, their passing game sputtered as well. Again, no fluke.

This is not the same defense we suffered with in 21.

Remember the old adage that a good defense shows up every game (I.e., consistent game to game) while a good offense may not.

The alabama game was a very good defensive performance. Cringing as BY broke the pocket really worries me for the QB from UTSA as he has legs to hurt you. I am happy we had a good d performance saturday but it was only 1 game. If they do it over the next 3 games then that will be AWESOME and we should be 5-1 after the dirt burglars. Hope that proves out. Texas has not been Texas in far too long!!
