Dukesteer, Everyone except our opponents hopes this years team is different than last year. It would appear that UTSA has a pretty descent team so we will find out saturday. I think bama is very over rated based on what we saw saturday. Their skill positions are just no where near what they were last year. I dont really think we can be sure what we have as a team until after we play the land of thieves in October. By then we will know what we have. Had Quinn not been hurt on saturday, we would have won that game and I think pretty easily. Let just hope the same team continues to show up.To me it’s difficult not to conclude that our 2022 team is very different from last year. In Game 2 last year, we were completely outcoached and outplayed by a team that may struggle to compete with Alabama. Couple that with an atmosphere last Saturday so special that the entire sports media complex was talking about it for days. With a star quarterback out, we took arguably the best team in the country to the brink.
To me, to not conclude that this is a different team than last year‘s version would be to ignore the obvious. Could we stumble? Sure. But frankly, I don’t expect it, even if we have to go with a 3rd string quarterback Saturday that has never played.
There’s something different about this team; something very good.
