2023 ALCS • Rangers vs Astros

The Rangers bullpen was always their Achilles’ heel and unfortunately tonight the playoff magic for the bullpen ended. I fully expected when I woke up this morning that Houston was going to win today, but not this way, and not with the meltdown in the ninth that happened. Sometimes baseball is a very cruel game.

Very bitter loss today.

Eovaldi gives the Rangers hope on Sunday.

Meanwhile, the Horns need to CRUSH another team from Houston on Saturday!

Can the Astros win at home? I sure hope so. What a weird feeling not being totally thrilled they are coming home for 6 and 7.

If I were a Ranger fan, I’d be very disappointed in Garcia. After getting hit, he should have been excited to get on base with a chance to extend the Rangers’ lead. Instead, he acted impulsively, which fired up the Astros and delayed the game while his closer was sitting on the bench. Stupid, stupid, stupid. Regardless of whether the HBP was intentional, Garcia’s reaction is what cost the Rangers the game.

On top of that, Garcia acted stupidly on his home run. I don’t mind admiring a sure-thing homer, but that one landed in the first row. If it was just a few feet shorter, he could’ve ended up with a 2-run single when it should’ve been at least a triple. It didn’t end up mattering, but I hate when athletes think more about themselves than they do about the game or their team.

If I was the Astros, I would have them stay in DFW until game time in Houston. Fly straight from DFW to Hobby and bus to the stadium. Keep the on the road mentality going.

Game Seven, it had to be with these two teams. Can Texas and Scherzer recreate 2019 and have a series where the home team never wins a game, sure hope so.

LETS GO RANGERS!:texasflag:

Don’t say I didn’t warn them.

Adolis got what he had coming given baseball's unwritten rules.

I have several long-time friends, who are Astro's fans, and they all INSIST it was accidental. It's hilarious.

I want Abreu suspended because I don't respect pitchers who throw at batters. To me, batting against Ryan, Gibson, Clemons et al, playing quarterback, Tour de France descents from the mountains and seeing Dale Earnhardt in your rearview mirror are some of the toughest situations in sports. Pitchers who win because of intimidation are not anything I care to honor.

The Rangers and the Astros have been at it all year with the back and forth. Maldonado has been an instigator. Garcia did what he did because that's who he is, for starters, but I'm thinking he was inflamed by the chirping.

I agree that what he did was stupid. He woke them up.

.

All 3 pitchers you mentioned above intentionally hit batters

Why did the Astros appeal the game 6 suspension? They had 2 to win one , knowing if they lost the appeal today they'd have a short Pen for game 7. Didn't make sense

This series is absolutely killing me. I’m an Astros fan and tonight will be excruciating. Whichever team wins tonight will deserve the pennant. The Astros came back from 0-2 to sweep 3 in Arlington. The Rangers came back from a devastating loss in Game 5 and showed their mettle last night. The loser is going to have a long offseason of “what if’s” in this series.

Whoever wins tonight has their hands full. Phillies have a fresh pitching staff and they're really feeling it the plate

I don't care either way but it's equally hilarious to insist that it was intentional
being down 2 runs late in the game and you're going to intentionally put another runner on? nobody would do that in this situation
You don't get to 7 straight ALCS by making stupid moves like that*

* 2017 stupid cheating notwithstanding

I agree. I can’t speak for the Ranger’s chances against Philly, but I expect the Astros to be decided underdogs this time around. Both teams can score a bunch, but the Astros starting pitching has been iffy at best. The Phillies starters are really strong with Nola, Wheeler and Suarez as their top 3. Suarez completely shut us down in Game 3 last year and I was sweating seeing him again in a potential game 7. I would give the Astros a 1 in 3 chance of beating the Phils this time around.
