The trash can thing is overblown. Not every player did it and the ones that did didn't do it on every pitch of every game. Josh Reddick certainlyv didn't use it. His average sucked in the playoffs. Also, the Astros still had amazing pitching. And, last years team only had 3 batters from the 2017 team. Its a non issue at this point.

That the Astros cheated on some scale in 2017 is a fact, the extent of it and all of the players involved is not known because MLB didn’t want to know and let the players essentially take the fifth while the GM and manager took the fall. Truth is that those who participated didn’t keep it a secret internally so everyone knew it was going on and took part at a minimum as enablers. The Yankees are convinced that the cheating was still happening in game six and seven of the ALCS that year but no one knows for sure. The fact is Houston has had the best team in baseball for the last seven years and didn’t need to cheat to win but they did and it taints that first World Series win period. That said the cheating stopped by 2018 and certainly hasn’t had an impact on their current run of dominance.

I massively want the Rangers to win, but the Astros are the better team with a better bullpen. I also hate that MLB put the Astros in the AL West to try to force a rivalry where none existed. Most Ranger fans don't hate the Astros, and most Astros fans don't hate the Rangers. Just another reason why Bud Selig sucks. Worst commissioner until the current one. (I'll never forgive that MoFo for bringing the DH to the NL.)
Yeah really. I like them both. It was better with one Texas team in the AL and one in the NL.

I just think it’s funny that in today’s hi-tech world, their method of relaying stolen signals to the batter was banging on a trash can.

:lmao:

To be fair, they used one of those new fanged TV things to watch the catcher initially give the sign to the pitcher. The trash can was to relay the message to the hitter.

I despise the DH.
I'm with you on this, Deez. Think back to some excellent pitchers who could also handle the bat - Newcomb, Drysdale, Bob Gibson, Warren Spahn, just to name a handful. The DH takes away the value of the sacrifice bunt. It takes away the decision to pinch hit for the pitcher late in the game. It takes away the decision to walk the #8 hitter to get to the pitcher. I could go on and on, but it's pointless - unfortunately, the DH is here to stay, whether you and I like it or not.

Yep. Making pitchers bat also made them think twice before throwing at batters. How many pitchers threw at Cardinals batters in the '60s when they knew that if they did, Gibson would blow their heads clean off in their next at bat?

Because of the time change, I'm rarely able to watch, but does Eovaldi usually audibly grunt when he pitches? I remember Nolan Ryan used to do that.

Rs need to find their bats again regardless of how the 8th ends

Yep. I'm sweating the 9th. LeClerc didn't look great, and he has been out there a lot in this post season. I'd be a lot more comfortable if we put just one more across the plate, but I'm not optimistic. The Stros pen is nasty as hell.
