2023 ALCS • Rangers vs Astros

We can't just finish them off. We have to let it drag. If we just shut it down, it'll be over too quickly. It's like Inigo Montoya sword fighting right-handed.

I got a BIG smile on my face for these guys!!!

They worked so hard, so many season ups and downs!!! CELEBRATE!!!

Turns out Rangers had all they needed in the first 5 minutes of the game. This has been catastrophically embarrassing for the Astros, pitching, at the plate, and in the field.

It's been a tremendous run, and they'll be a force next year

Speaking of which, dusty all but said he won't be coming back in the post-game presser. At 74 I don't blame him + some new blood is needed imo

Overachievers have their day!

Probably the Phillies, but watch out for the Snakes as they seem to be riding the same wave as the Rangers.

As I said at the beginning, I think Houston had the better team. Their starters are more consistent. Their bullpen is MUCH better. They have even more power in their lineup, and their hitters are generally tougher outs. But anything can happen in a series. Eovaldi and Montgomery were good enough to keep the Rangers in it. The hitters produced when they needed to, and despite a lot of scary moments, the Texas bullpen overachieved.

The point is that Houston will be fine next season and in the long term. Baker is probably done as manager, but the organisation has enough solid leaders to replace him. The farm isn't great, but that's mainly because most of their young players have already been promoted to the big club. Most of their impact players are still fairly young and have plenty of good years left in the tank. They'll be fine for the foreseeable future and have time to rebuild the farm for long term competitiveness.
