2022 Transfer Season

As for Lauren Fields, I wonder if she visited today? She's been very quiet on her recruitment. We only know about the schools that have shown interest because of twitter posts from her parents. So while we wait, here's a tidbit I found interesting:
She received an NCAA regional athletics honor roll award in Feb. (the only UT player in our region to also receive that award was JAT). She had a 3.31 cumulative gpa in marketing. I mention this because I didn't realize she was a business major. I would assume the attraction of finishing off her degree at McCombs might be a factor in her decision (in addition to playing on a team that could make a final four). US News ranks McCombs #5 in the Country this year - easily the highest of the schools she's considering.

On her Instagram over the weekend, she posted several photos of her time in L.A. visiting USC (beach, Rodeo Drive, USC Spring football game, etc.).

Check out the second photo; guess there was quite a bit of video chatting with Taylor in Austin as some of our coaches were out at the club tournaments:

I know Rori came down to Austin and said she was going to see the moody center today so I believe Harmon was one of the hosts for Fields and they all went to go see it together. Fields posted a couple hours ago and it seemed she was at a fancy restaurant so I assume she’s in Austin right now and 20 minutes ago Rori, Femme, and ndjakalenga mwenentanda were at a restaurant for Femme’s birthday. I believe Fields is there as well but was not shown in the instagram story.

That certainly does look like Ndjakalenga. What is she doing in Austin?

Now that I think about it, maybe Taylor wasn't even in Austin. Vic and Blair were at club tournaments when Taylor contacted them on Friday night. That's when later Blair tweeted that it was a "great night to be a Longhorn". Saturday afternoon is when she announced her commitment on social media. Perhaps Taylor hasn't even come for her official visit . . .

I was wondering about the timing of the signing of Jones to a NLI and financial agreement. The only way UT would publicize it if she'd done so. Specifically I was wondering if she'd be allowed to sign in the middle of the Spring semester at Oregon State. Then, I remembered I was pretty sure that most(?) of the PAC12 schools are on the quarter system. I looked at OSU's schedule and they are on the quarter system. So "Winter" quarter went from Jan 3 - Mar 18 and Spring goes Mar 28 - Jun 10. I guess Jones finished up with her coursework and as a student at OSU at the end of Winter quarter and that allows her to sign a scholarship agreement so she can start UT in the summer?

Taylor was at the ribbon cutting for the Moody - even got a photo with McConaughey.

Lol I love this and it’s hilarious but all the coaches numbers weren’t covered or taken out:smh: it’s some different people out here and Blair had her number in there, Jones sister number was in there and coach Blair from Aggies even had his number pop up in there. I don’t expect that tweet to stay up long for that reason alone but it’s cool to see how it happens behind the scenes.

What day was that? Tuesday the 19th? Guess she took her official visit early/middle of last week then, and not the weekend. That would actually make more sense since neither she nor our coaches were in Austin on Friday night during that video chat.

Women's college basketball transfer rankings for 2022-23 season (espn.com)

3. Taylor Jones, 6-4, F, Jr., Texas

Like Briggs, Jones missed most of last season with a shoulder injury, and her absence was a significant loss for Oregon State, which missed the NCAA tournament for the first time since 2013. She gets closer to her Forney, Texas, home by joining the Longhorns and has shown glimpses of being a dominant post presence in her first three seasons, with career averages of 12.1 points and 7.7 rebounds.

Nice article. We got a great one for sure. Nice to see Fields rated so high on the undecided list as well. That Tennessee game in the Fall is gonna be tough. We need to finish out our roster and be ready.

Via her Instagram story (taking photos in Longhorns basketball uniform), Oklahoma State transfer, Lauren Fields is on her official visit.

Lauren Fields started following DeYona Gaston and Ndjakalenga and Taylor Jones' stepmom on IG, and vice verse.

She was in Waco this past weekend. Baylor now has 4 players who are probably best suited to play PG when you add her to Jaden Owens, Sarah Andrews, and Jaymee Asberry.
Asberry played the 2 this season so that will continue but not sure why they are pulling in a 3rd true PG when they have much bigger depth issues at other positions. Maybe they are expecting those to be filled with other transfers.

wonder if this hurts their chances of getting Sonya Morris who visited recently. That would be 4 true PG’s. Surely Collen isn’t gonna do that.

With Queen, NaLyssa, and Jordyn Lewis having moved on, Baylor has like 8-10 scholarships available. At this point, they kind of have take anyone who visits and wants to sign on the dotted line :D
