2022 Transfer Season

Is there where we are headed with NIL? Afraid so.

Wow. The comments to this tweet are pretty good too. Not much support for this moron. If this is his attitude, at least don't put it out there for public consumption. But this is exactly the kind of stuff that will eventually cause Congress to intervene and put a tent over the circus (which is what the NCAA wants), so I suppose its just part of the growing pains along the way.

I found this part of the article interesting:
"Papas says he recently negotiated an NIL deal for Kansas State transfer Nijel Pack that included $800,000 over two years plus a car. Pack was considered the No. 1 player in the transfer portal before committing to Miami. The deal was funded by billionaire John Ruiz, who has been at the forefront of the NIL movement, orchestrating deals across several sports. Among them are deals with women's college basketball twins Haley and Hanna Cavinder -- who transferred from Fresno State to Miami -- and UCLA football transfers Caleb Johnson and Mitchell Agude."

I guess if you want representation for an NIL deal you have to have a NCAA certified agent. Otherwise you would lose your eligibility?
"After an NCAA player fills out the application for feedback from the NBA, he can begin working with an NCAA-certified agent. If a player chooses to sign with an agent not certified by the NCAA, he forfeits his college eligibility."

It's the inevitable I'm afraid...
Interesting video on the whole situation from which I discern these takes:
(1). NCAA set this up by allowing the combination of portal free-movement chaos with NIL then getting dropped on top.
(2). This player's sugar daddy apparently says "I'm not renegotiating". Lol. We'll see if he sticks to it.
(3). The schools can't get involved in any of this or even comment on it. It has to remain between the boosters and the players/agents. Let's face it - that means we as fans have more control over this than the schools/coaches.
(4). When players hit the portal, we really don't know what may be influencing their decisions ($$$).
(5). There is a legal difference btwn a player who works hard and excels, and is then offer NIL $$$ to stay vs. someone who says I have a current NIL deal but I need to be paid more, or I'm leaving. The first is NIL just doing what its supposed to do. The second is pay-for-play.

I know we have forwards but Boston College’s Taylor Soule just hit the market and I think she is a phone we should make she can fill the hole Audrey left she can play 3/4 hyper athletic and rebounds. She would be a nice addition

Watched some of her highlights and love her game. Athleticism, motor, good passer and the way she goes and attacks the ball for rebounds. I would certainly give her a call. Wherever she ends up, she'll be an asset.

Well, if Vic is interested, now's the time to act. He's coaching at a clinic in Boston today through Sunday, and its being held only 5 miles from BC's campus. Would be a good time for an in-person visit.

Blair Schaefer just walked right in front of me as I wait for my flight departure at Austin airport. If not for the white t-shirt with "Texas Women's Basketball" she was wearing, I probably wouldn't have recognized her and would have thought she was just your typical college student wearing sweatpants and sneakers.

Lol. Did you see where she was headed Moooooo?

Dude, chase her down! We'll start submitting questions.

Taylor Soule looks like a difference maker on youtube. I'm sure she will be strongly recruited. She has size of both a guard and forward. I hope Vic checks her out.

Taylor Soule is another Taylor from Boston College who has a high upside. Her intensity reminds me of JAT, but taller at 5 ft 11. She looks like a consistent scorer in traffic, with decent speed and quickness.

She would certainly come in handy against the two big guards that Baylor just got. Who are both really good scores and rebounders.

For Baylor, I would think Edwards would play PF and Blackwell would play SF. They already have 4 guards between Andrews, Owens, Asberry, and Van Gytenbeek to play PG/SG. Not sure where Littlepage-Buggs or their JUCO signee would play; but SG/SF, I suppose.

Like most teams, they don't have true post player yet.

Don't they have a young Center coming in this year? And they're also supposed to be in the running for Reese.

Supposedly, Angel Reese wants to play out on the wing. They did sign a high school post player from Florida; not many are ready to step in right away at this level.

Right now it seems like all our chips are in on fields but we lacking at guard right now frfr.
Do any of you know any other targets from the portal. I know right idk of any backup pgs and we need capable wings.
In my head my targets are
Treasure Hunt W/F 6’2
Taylor Soule W/F 5’11
Ashley Owunsu G 6’
Faye F/C 6/4
Fields G 5’10
?????
Maybe another Juco product
